How to Watch All of This Year’s Oscar Nominees

The Oscar nominations just shook up the awards season, adding some unexpected twists after a relatively calm start. While you don’t need to rush to see Wicked, now’s a great time to check out films like Train Dreams and Blue Moon. And surprisingly, F1 is in the running for Best Picture! If you’re following the awards race, the list below will help you see all the nominated films before the ceremony on March 15th. We’ll keep it updated as more become available to stream, giving you two months to catch up.

How to Watch the 10 Best Picture Nominees

Bugonia

The film received nominations for Best Picture, Best Actress (Emma Stone), Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Score.

Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone continue to be favorites with the Academy. Despite a somewhat mixed response after its debut at the Venice Film Festival, their latest film, Poor Things, earned a Best Picture nomination. Stone also received another Best Actress nod for playing a pharmaceutical CEO who is kidnapped by two cousins (Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis) who believe she’s an alien. While Lanthimos’s films are known for being strange and disturbing, critic Bilge Ebiri observed that this one features characters who feel more grounded in reality. (Available to stream on Peacock.)

F1

Nominated for Best Picture, Film Editing, Sound, and Visual Effects.

Joseph Kosinski’s hit movie landed in tenth place for Best Picture, while momentum faded for Wicked: For Good and It Was Just an Accident. Interestingly, there were rumors that F1 would be Apple’s final theatrical release if it didn’t perform well in theaters. However, it’s become one of Apple’s biggest film successes, proving audiences enjoy fast-paced racing and underdog stories. (Now streaming on Apple TV.)

Frankenstein

The film received nominations for Best Picture, as well as recognition for Jacob Elordi’s supporting role, its cinematography, costume design, makeup and hairstyling, original score, production design, sound, and adapted screenplay.

Guillermo del Toro’s version of Frankenstein has been surprisingly successful during awards season. It received a strong reaction at the Venice International Film Festival – perhaps indicating early positive buzz was accurate – despite some mixed reviews that focused on the film’s speed, character development, and the unusual choice of ending with a quote from Lord Byron instead of Mary Shelley. Frankenstein is a well-respected story, but del Toro’s adaptation has resonated with audiences, performing well in theaters and on Netflix. Many appreciate del Toro’s vision, and the film’s beautiful visuals and Jacob Elordi’s captivating performance as the monster have clearly drawn viewers in. (Available on Netflix.)

Hamnet

The film received nominations for Best Picture, Best Actress (Jessie Buckley), Best Director (Chloé Zhao), Casting, Costume Design, Original Music Score, Production Design, and Adapted Screenplay.

Based on Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, the film Hamnet brings the story of Shakespeare’s family to life, co-written by O’Farrell and Oscar winner Chloé Zhao. Paul Mescal delivers a compelling performance as Shakespeare, while Saoirse Ronan truly shines as his wife, Agnes, a resilient mother facing devastating loss. Many believe Ronan is a strong contender for an Oscar, and the film’s emotional intensity—while not for everyone—appears to be resonating with the Academy. (Now playing in theaters.)

Marty Supreme

The film received nominations for Best Picture, as well as accolades for Timothée Chalamet’s performance, Josh Safdie’s direction, and achievements in casting, cinematography, film editing, costume design, production design, and original screenplay writing.

Timothée Chalamet’s enthusiastic promotion of Marty Supreme paid off. The film became a box-office hit during the holidays, and Chalamet even received a Best Actor nomination, going up against one of his heroes, Leonardo DiCaprio. The movie itself is excellent – a fast-paced table-tennis drama made even better by Chalamet’s performance and a strong supporting cast including Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Tyler, the Creator, and Kevin O’Leary from Shark Tank. (Now playing in theaters.)

One Battle After Another

The film received nominations for ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture, lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio, supporting actors Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn, supporting actress Teyana Taylor, directing, casting, cinematography, film editing, original score, production design, sound, and adapted screenplay.

Wow, Anderson’s movie about revolutionaries is killing it this awards season – honestly, the 14 nominations don’t even shock me at this point! I was a little surprised, though, that Chase Infiniti didn’t get any love. It’s kind of hilarious when you think about it – One Battle and Sinners are basically Warner Bros. competing against itself for the most wins! You can watch it all unfold on HBO Max, by the way.

The Secret Agent

The film received nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor (Wagner Moura), Best International Feature Film, and Best Casting.

Since its debut at Cannes – where Wagner Moura and Kleber Mendonça Filho won awards for Best Actor and Director – The Secret Agent has been gaining a lot of recognition. Moura, recently nominated for an Oscar, delivers a powerful performance leading a fantastic cast. Tânia Maria also shines as a former professor forced into hiding during Brazil’s military dictatorship in the 1970s. (Now playing in theaters.)

Sentimental Value

The film received nominations for Best Picture, as well as acting nods for Stellan Skarsgård, Renate Reinsve, Elle Fanning, and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas. It was also nominated for Best Director (Joachim Trier), Best International Feature Film, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Screenplay.

There was a moment it seemed like the film Sentimental Value wouldn’t receive major Oscar nominations. Although the Screen Actors Guild Awards didn’t recognize the cast, the Academy did. It’s difficult to fully appreciate this personal story about a family without acknowledging the actors who portrayed them so well. (Now available to rent or buy online.)

Sinners

The film received nominations for numerous awards, including Best Picture, leading and supporting actor awards for Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo, supporting actress for Wunmi Mosaku, and recognition in technical categories such as casting, cinematography, costume design, directing by Ryan Coogler, film editing, makeup, music (both score and the original song “I Lied to You”), production design, sound, visual effects, and the original screenplay.

Ryan Coogler’s latest movie is a massive success, breaking records and marking a fantastic start to the year for Warner Bros. Sinners has become the most Oscar-nominated film in history. Many people are hoping this leads to awards for Coogler, Michael B. Jordan, Carl Lindo, Thuso Mbedu, and the entire Sinners team – especially since the film received nominations in all the technical categories. This is a significant achievement for both the horror genre and broader representation at the Oscars. You can stream it on HBO Max.

Train Dreams

I was so thrilled to see this movie get nominated for so many awards! Best Picture, of course, was huge, but the nominations for Cinematography and Original Song (“Train Dreams”) were amazing too. And I especially loved the Adapted Screenplay – it was so well done! It really deserved the recognition.

The film Train Dreams is gaining momentum. While Netflix doesn’t often receive praise for its acquisitions, buying this small, independent film at Sundance may surprisingly lead to a Best Picture nomination. (Currently streaming on Netflix.)

How to Watch the Rest of the 2026 Oscar Nominees

The Alabama Solution

Nominated for Documentary Feature Film.

This eye-opening documentary was filmed inside Alabama prisons, with directors Andrew Jarecki and Charlotte Kaufman collaborating with the men incarcerated there. You can watch it on HBO Max.

Arco

Nominated for Animated Feature Film.

I just saw Arco, a really charming animated film that comes to us from France. It’s about a 10-year-old boy who gets caught up in some time travel adventures, and the voice cast is surprisingly star-studded! You’ve got Natalie Portman – who also helped produce the movie – alongside Mark Ruffalo, Flea, Andy Samberg, America Ferrera, and even Will Ferrell. It’s playing in theaters now, and I’d definitely recommend checking it out if you’re looking for something a little different.

Avatar: Fire and Ash

Nominated for Costume Design and Visual Effects.

You won’t believe this, but Avatar actually received a nomination for costume design! It doesn’t matter which category it’s in, as long as it earns us bonus points for the Movies Fantasy League. (It’s playing in theaters now.)

Blue Moon

Nominated for Actor in a Leading Role (Ethan Hawke) and Writing (Original Screenplay)

Ethan Hawke and Richard Linklater, a well-known actor-director team, have also received nominations this year. Their latest film is currently playing in theaters.

Come See Me in the Good Light

Nominated for Documentary Feature Film.

This documentary, co-produced by Tig Notaro, tells the story of poet and activist Andrea Gibson, who passed away in 2025. You can watch it on Apple TV.

Cutting Through Rocks

Nominated for Documentary Feature Film.

The film follows Sara Shahverdi, a trailblazer who became the first woman elected to the village council in her Iranian town. It’s directed by Mohammadreza Eyni and Sara Khaki. Currently, the film is not yet available for viewing.

Diane Warren: Relentless

Nominated for Music (Original Song, “Dear Me”).

Diane Warren’s quest for an Oscar win … relentless. (Streaming on Kanopy and available on VOD.)

Elio

Nominated for Animated Feature Film.

Despite a challenging year for animated films, Pixar’s Elio managed to receive a nomination. (Currently streaming on Disney+.)

If I Had Legs I’d Kick You

Nominated for Actress in a Leading Role (Rose Byrne).

Thanks to the captivating performance and skill of Saoirse Byrne, this intense independent film went from its debut at Sundance last year all the way to an Oscar nomination. While Jessie Buckley is a likely Best Actress winner, Byrne is a strong contender who could certainly challenge her. (Available for streaming and rental.)

It Was Just an Accident

Nominated for International Feature Film and Writing (Original Screenplay).

It’s surprising that Jafar Panahi’s award-winning thriller, which won the Palme d’Or, wasn’t nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. (You can rent or buy it digitally.)

Jurassic World Rebirth

Nominated for Visual Effects.

It’s hard to ignore dinosaurs. (Streaming on Peacock.)

Kokuho

Nominated for Makeup and Hairstyling.

This popular Japanese movie tells the story of a teenager who commits himself to learning the traditional art of kabuki. It opens in select theaters on February 6th.

KPop Demon Hunters

Nominated for Animated Feature Film and Music (Original Song, (“Golden”).

What’s a major achievement in film? Winning an Oscar. And Netflix could be in the running for two with its unexpected 2025 hit, a musical comedy directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. The film follows K-pop stars who secretly fight demons. (Available on Netflix.)

Little Amélie or the Character of Rain

Nominated for Animated Feature Film.

A GKIDS film, Little Amélie centers on a young Belgian girl in Japan. (Available on VOD.)

The Lost Bus

Nominated for Visual Effects.

Presumably nominated for its huge fire that the titular bus drives through. (Streaming on Apple TV.)

Mr. Nobody Against Putin

Nominated for Documentary Feature Film.

As a film fan, I recently stumbled upon this incredibly moving documentary. It’s shot by a schoolteacher in Russia who’s capturing how the war in Ukraine is impacting his students and their everyday lives. It’s a really raw and honest look at things, and honestly, it’s pretty powerful. You can find it streaming on the Kino Film Collection.

The Perfect Neighbor

Nominated for Documentary Feature Film.

This documentary uses police body camera footage to tell the story of a neighborhood dispute in Florida that tragically ended with the death of Ajike Owens. (Available on Netflix.)

Sirāt

Nominated for International Feature Film and Sound.

Neon has acquired Sirāt, a new film about a father’s journey through the Moroccan desert to find his daughter. It will be released in theaters soon.

The Smashing Machine

Nominated for Makeup and Hairstyling.

Dwayne Johnson didn’t receive a Best Actor nomination, much like the movie The Smashing Machine didn’t perform well at the box office. However, the Academy did acknowledge his impressive physical transformation for his role as UFC fighter Mark Kerr. (Now streaming on HBO Max.)

Song Sung Blue

Nominated for Actress in a Leading Role (Kate Hudson).

Considering Jennifer Hudson’s nominations at the Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe Awards, it’s not entirely surprising she won. While traditional music biopics aren’t performing as well with awards voters lately, Hudson’s portrayal of a cover-band singer really resonated. (Now playing in theaters.)

The Ugly Stepsister

Nominated for Makeup and Hairstyling.

Another horror pick! (Streaming on Hulu and Shudder.)

Viva Verdi!

Nominated for Music (Original Song, “Sweet Dreams of Joy”).

Everyone expected bigger names like Miley Cyrus or Ariana Grande to be nominated for Original Song, so the nomination of “Viva Verdi!” came as a surprise. However, considering the documentary focuses on older musicians guiding younger ones, it’s easy to see why voters were moved by it. (Information not yet available.)

The Voice of Hind Rajab

Nominated for International Feature Film.

Tunisia’s submission for the International Feature Film award, The Voice of Hind Rajab, is a moving docudrama based on the tragic death of a young Palestinian girl at the hands of Israeli soldiers. The film initially captivated viewers at the Venice International Film Festival, where it received an unprecedented 23-minute standing ovation. (Now playing in theaters.)

Weapons

Nominated for Actress in a Supporting Role (Amy Madigan).

The online effort to get actress Madigan an Oscar nomination for her fantastic performance as a young-looking witch worked! It’s even better if she wins, but at least the Academy is starting to recognize horror films, which they usually ignore. You can watch the movie on HBO Max.

Zootopia 2

Nominated for Animated Feature Film.

Now, if only “Zoo” by Shakira were nominated. Cowards. (In theaters now.)
