Photos appearing online in late January show that the Pentagon has added a Pokémon card vending machine to its main food court.
The reports began with a post on the Reddit forum r/army. Users shared pictures of a machine resembling a Pokémon-style “loot box,” which dispensed sealed packs and surprise items.
According to the post, the machine was set up around mid-December in the main dining area for Pentagon staff and guests.
People online were quick to notice and question the appearance of a collectible card vending machine inside the Pentagon, the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense.
The Pentagon recently installed these jersey/Pokémon card/crypto gambling machines. What should an Army version gamble on?

Photos spark online discussion about the vending machine
Photos circulating online reveal a vending machine filled with Pokémon merchandise, placed like other food court options. The original social media post that sparked conversation noted the machine’s high price and emphasized that it offers the possibility of winning rare trading cards.
The “Lucky Box” vending machine has a Charizard card image on its exterior, but its large screen shows it offers a variety of items, not just Pokemon cards.
The Daily Dot reports that the company installing the vending machine initially announced it on Christmas Eve 2025, but later removed the post.
