Subway is giving away free subs to passengers sandwiched in middle airplane seats

Nobody enjoys being stuck in the middle seat on a flight – it’s uncomfortable, you’re squeezed between other passengers, and you often get kicked from behind. Thankfully, Subway understands this frustration.

Okay, so Subway is trying to make amends for all of us who get stuck with the middle seat on planes – they’re giving away free footlong subs! Seriously, it’s their way of saying ‘sorry for your travel woes’ and hooking us up with a free lunch. Not a bad deal, honestly.

The only catch? You have to be flying on January 27 and be sitting in the middle seat.

No one enjoys being stuck in a middle seat, even if they check in early,” said Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer at Subway North America. “That’s why, on Tuesday, we’re making things better for passengers on flight 737 by giving everyone in a middle seat a $20 Subway gift card – turning a frustrating situation into something positive.

How to get free Subway subs as a middle seat passenger

To get a $20 Subway gift card, you’ll need to be traveling within the US on January 27th and have access to your phone.

Next, visit the Subway Middle Seat website and upload a selfie showing your middle seat assignment.

Surprisingly, it seems your seat location doesn’t matter much – if you’re in a middle seat, you’re statistically safer, regardless of the airline or class you’re traveling in.

So, Subway’s saying they’re checking the details of every photo submitted to make sure it was actually taken on January 27th. That means those old pictures we’ve had saved up won’t work – they need to be fresh!

You just gotta be fast. Subway is only giving out 737 of these gift cards.

Subway isn’t the only fast-food chain serving airline travelers. Passengers flying first class on Delta for longer distances – 900 miles or more – can also enjoy meals from Shake Shack.
