A dog and her owner were joyfully reunited in Doral, Florida, after being separated for over ten years. The reunion happened when a scan at Miami-Dade Animal Services identified the 15-year-old dog.
The department announced on Facebook Tuesday, January 20th, that a dog named Buttercup was happily reunited with her owners. They were able to find her thanks to the information registered on her microchip.
Buttercup and her owner were joyfully reunited last week after being separated for over ten years! According to a recent announcement with accompanying photos, a quick microchip scan brought this sweet dog back home. It’s a heartwarming example of why microchipping pets is so important.
How Buttercup was identified after a decade
Miami-Dade Animal Services also emphasized that a microchip is only helpful if the contact information registered with it is current. They explained that keeping your details up-to-date is crucial – it could mean the difference between a lost pet remaining lost and a joyful reunion, just like the one with a pet named Buttercup.
According to WSVN, Buttercup was found on Jan. 12 before being brought into the shelter system.
The news source also said the owner’s two dogs disappeared years ago, and they thought Buttercup had passed away. They were relieved to later discover she was actually found and identified.
This announcement follows a recent story about a cat that remarkably found its way home to France, traveling over 155 miles after getting lost in Spain last August.
