xQc finally sets new Minecraft speedrun PB after two years but still can’t beat Forsen

After two years, xQc achieved a new personal best time in Minecraft speedrunning on January 20, 2026. However, despite this accomplishment, he was still unable to beat Forsen’s longstanding record.

While livestreaming late at night, xQc finished Minecraft Any% in 16 minutes and 10 seconds – his quickest time since 2023. This was his first personal best in over two years, showing that his dedicated practice is still paying off after many hours trying to beat the record.

Despite the effort, the current attempt didn’t beat Forsen’s record of 15:28, set back in October 2023. That time still marks the high point of their five-year competition and remains unmatched.

xQc comes close to overtaking Forsen, but not close enough

The run on January 20th started well, but mistakes towards the end cost xQc a potential record. He had trouble with where blazes spawned in the Nether, and then wasted valuable time trying to get into the right position to fight the Ender Dragon. By the time he was ready, he’d lost too much time to beat the record.

The chat went wild! Everyone was saying I’d already messed up the run way before that point. A bunch of people were pointing out I spent almost a full minute just circling that stronghold, trying to decide where to go for the End portal – basically wasting a ton of time!

xQc defended himself against the criticism while live streaming, explaining that the changes he made to the route didn’t really impact his final time. He believes the outcome depended mostly on random chance, things he couldn’t control.

Once xQc achieved a personal best, he kept playing Minecraft for several hours, hoping to repeat his success while things were going well. However, none of his later attempts even came close to matching his new time of 16:10, or Forsen’s best of 15:28.

Recent achievements have reignited the rivalry between xQc and Forsen, even though Forsen hasn’t played the game since 2023. While xQc has shown he can still get better after a long break, he hasn’t yet surpassed Forsen’s incredibly strong performance from last year.
