A new look at Absolute Batman’s version of the Joker is certainly not what DC fans were expecting.
Absolute Batman is a new comic book series from DC, debuting in October 2024. It’s the first release under DC’s ‘Absolute Universe’ line and presents a fresh take on Batman, portraying him as a 24-year-old working-class engineer.
What does Absolute Batman’s Joker look like?
As a huge Batman fan, I’ve noticed the Joker popping up here and there in the *Dark Knight’s Absolute Universe* comics, but we haven’t really gotten a good look at *this* Joker yet. Well, writer Scott Snyder just dropped a preview of Nick Dragotta’s cover for *Absolute Batman #15* on Twitter, and honestly, it’s a Joker unlike anything DC fans – myself included – have ever seen. It’s a totally different take on the character, and I’m really intrigued!

Okay, so I just saw the details for Absolute Batman #15, and it sounds *wild*. Apparently, Alfred’s finally going to spill the beans to Bruce about how the Joker became… well, a total monster, almost like a dragon! The description says Alfred’s revealing the history of the guy Bruce has been after all this time, and it’s a big story cooked up by Scott Snyder and Jock. It’s going to be an epic in the Absolute Universe, apparently!
DC Comics fans are surprised by the new look of the Joker and are questioning how Batman will be able to defeat him.
This new take on the Joker’s appearance aligns with how other villains in the comic have been reimagined. Like Killer Croc, who’s become much bigger and more imposing, and Bane, who is now a truly massive figure, the Joker’s design has been significantly altered.
DC Comics will release Absolute Batman #15 on December 10, 2025. Jock is the artist for the main cover, and he also created one of the variant covers. Additional variant covers are by Ben Oliver, Brian Bolland, and Sanford Greene.
