Best Wii games of all time, ranked

When Nintendo released the Wii in 2006, they didn’t compete with other consoles by trying to be more powerful. Instead, they revolutionized gaming by changing how people played. The Wii’s motion controls, simple design, and emphasis on playing together made gaming a social activity everyone could enjoy, not just the player with the controller.

Honestly, taking a chance on motion controls with the Wii totally worked. Wii Sports blew up and everyone was playing it, and Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl instantly made my place the go-to spot for game nights. But it wasn’t just about the new stuff – Nintendo really stepped up their classic games too. Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel were incredible, totally changing how I thought about 3D platformers. Zelda games like Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword were massive adventures, and Metroid Prime 3 and Xenoblade Chronicles felt huge and immersive, especially considering what the Wii could actually do.

The Wii wasn’t just a gaming system; it was a place where developers could experiment and take chances. Games like Okami, No More Heroes, MadWorld, and World of Goo proved that unique and original ideas could be incredibly popular. The Wii showed that fun for all ages, or immersive single-player adventures, could be more successful than simply having powerful hardware.

With that in mind, here’s our ranking of the best Wii games.
