How to find the Resort Hotel if you have Kapp’n unlocked
Kapp’n and his family operate The Resort hotel. If you’ve updated your game to version 3.0 and Kapp’n already lives on your island, all you need to do is visit his pier. You’ll find a larger dock and a brand new hotel right on the water!
The hotel is open, so feel free to walk right in and talk to Kapp’n and his family to begin enjoying everything the hotel has to offer.
To see if your game has been updated to the newest version, simply look at the top-right corner of the loading screen when the main menu appears.
Getting started with hotel activities
To begin the decorating quests, talk to Leilani at the reception desk. Keep in mind you can only decorate two hotel rooms each day, so it’s best to start as soon as possible!
After settling in, be sure to visit Tom Nook outside the hotel. He’s always looking for ways to grow his business, and he’ll need your help! He’ll ask you to make things to sell as island souvenirs, and he’ll reward you with Hotel Tickets for each item.
You can find Grams at the souvenir shop to the right of the hotel lobby. That’s where you’ll use the Hotel Tickets you earn by decorating rooms and finishing DIY requests for Tom Nook.
Tomorrow, you’ll be able to design two new rooms and start choosing outfits for your hotel guests. Plus, you’ll finally welcome your first visitors to the island!
How to unlock the hotel if you don’t have Kapp’n on your island
To unlock the Resort Hotel, you’ll need to make some progress on your island. This means meeting certain upgrade requirements, especially if you’re new to the game or haven’t upgraded much yet.
You’ll first need to get Kapp’n on your island, which demands the following prerequisites:
- Have a 3-star island rating
- Upgrade your museum by donating 15 items to Blathers
- Have K.K. Slider perform a concert on your island
To improve your island’s rating, focus on making it more beautiful and detailed. There aren’t any set rules – you’re free to decorate however you like! You can always check your progress by talking to Isabelle and asking her to evaluate your island.
After you’ve progressed far enough in the game, made sufficient donations to the museum, and held a concert with K.K. Slider, Kapp’n will visit your island. This should trigger the appearance of the hotel. While the hotel was already available to us, if neither Kapp’n nor the hotel shows up, you might need to wait one more day for the changes to take effect.
When players start the game each day, Isabelle should mention Kapp’n and the Resort Hotel once they become available.
