This game is huge, and that’s clear to anyone who looks at it. If you’re new to the game, it can be confusing to learn all the different systems and get everything set up.
The tutorial is helpful at first, but you’ll quickly need to figure things out on your own while trying to survive on a dangerous, meteor-strewn planet.
The Meteors – also known as the Rupture – are central to everything this planet has to offer. So, get your helmet and flashlight ready, because it’s time to explore! Just be careful not to get burned!
3. Breaking the Vines

Exploring this ruined world, you might have found a thick tangle of vines hiding a cave. Perhaps, like me, you’ve tried shooting them, jumping on them, or otherwise attempting to clear the way, all without success.
If you’re hoping to explore the caves and see what’s inside, you’ll need to wait for the Rupture to happen first.
The explosion’s fire will temporarily clear the vines covering the caves. However, once plant life starts to grow back, the vines will quickly reclaim the Underground Caves.
Once you receive the rupture warning, head to a few promising cave spots and quickly build a small tower and a basic habitat. After the rupture ends, take those structures down and then explore as many caves as you can to gather resources.
2. Underground Cave Loot
Quartz Ore
As you explore the caves, you’ll first notice the large, glowing quartz formations hanging from the rocks. They give off a bright blue light, but reaching them might require some crawling through narrow tunnels. You can use quartz in these recipes:
- Quartz Building Material
Glowcap
You’ll soon find Glowcap plants growing around – there are usually more of these than quartz. Luckily, they’re a really valuable resource!
As a player, I’m seriously loving these plants! They’re a lifesaver, instantly healing 50hp, and they also give you a nice boost of 20 calories and 30 hydration – basically covering all the essentials for staying alive. The best part? They don’t increase your toxicity, which is a huge relief compared to other plants. It means one less thing to worry about while I’m exploring!
If you suddenly need an energy boost, quickly grab a couple of these while you’re on the move to keep going.
The Glowcaps can be used in the following recipes:
- Drain Red Plasm
- Termo Res Plasm
- Infection Res Plasm
- Corrosion Res Plasm
Eating these foods provides double resistance to their specific type for 10 minutes, but they also cause 40 toxicity.
Dead Bodies
If you spot a dead body on the map close to the cave, it’s likely located somewhere underneath it.

Honestly, whenever I see a fallen enemy, I always check their body. You never know what they’re carrying! It could be anything from a snack to some seriously useful machine parts. And those parts? They’re worth data points, which are key to progressing, so looting is always a good idea.
1. Leaving the Cave
Escaping is easy: just run to the long, hanging white vines and climb back out. If you get trapped inside, shoot the big, glowing red orb, and the vines will pull back briefly, allowing you to escape.
