I’m really excited because Disney+ – the place where you can watch Star Wars and The Incredibles – might start featuring my favorite TikTok creators soon! It’s cool to think they’re considering bringing TikTok stars to the platform.
I was so excited to hear at CES this year that Disney+ is finally adding vertical video! Apparently, they’re planning to roll it out later in 2026. It means we’ll still get all the usual Disney+ shows and movies, but they’re also making a bunch of short-form content specifically for watching on our phones – perfect for quick entertainment on the go!
As someone who spends a lot of time gaming and watching stuff on my phone, I totally get what Erin Teague at Deadline was saying. Basically, Gen Z and Alpha – that’s us and the younger kids – aren’t really into settling down to watch a super long movie or show on our phones. We’re used to shorter, quicker content.
Disney+ introducing vertical video to capture younger generations
It’s unclear when or how vertical videos will come to Disney+. But Disney+ isn’t planning to just repurpose existing shows and movies into this format; they have other ideas.
Don’t assume Disney’s vertical videos will only feature movie or show trailers. They’re exploring lots of different kinds of content for this new video style.

According to Teague, all options are being considered. This includes creating short videos specifically for mobile devices, as well as editing popular shows into short, easily shareable clips.
Disney plans to improve the experience gradually. They aim to use it in many different ways with various kinds of content, creating a feed that’s tailored to each user and constantly changing.
This development also allows Disney+ to grow into new areas like news and entertainment, aiming to make it a daily habit for viewers.
Disney is starting to focus on attracting a younger audience, particularly those who use TikTok, which has over 1.5 billion users. While this makes sense from a business perspective, research suggests that constantly consuming short-form content like TikTok videos can have negative effects on attention spans and overall cognitive health.
