Matt Reeves, the director of the next Batman movie, has hinted at a brand new villain. Many fans are predicting it will be the Court of Owls, but it would be more interesting if he chose someone different.
Work on the next Batman movie starring Robert Pattinson is officially underway, and filming will start next spring. Production will happen at the same time as filming for James Gunn’s new Superman movie and before the release of the Supergirl film.
The new film will delve deeper into Bruce Wayne’s character, with a continued focus on Robert Pattinson in the role. As Keanu Reeves explained to Josh Horowitz, keeping Pattinson central to the story was their primary goal.
For a while, many Batman fans have wondered if the Court of Owls would appear in the ongoing ‘Batman Epic Crime Saga’. However, another lesser-known villain might make an appearance before them.
The Batman Part 2 should be a Hush story

The Court of Owls is a hidden criminal organization that first appeared in Scott Snyder’s Batman comics in 2012 (specifically issue #6 of Volume 2). They have a huge amount of power in Gotham City and use trained assassins, called Talons, to do their bidding.
Since *The Batman* and *The Penguin* both highlight widespread corruption, it makes sense to continue that storyline with those villains. However, the next movie should hint at their larger plans while primarily featuring Hush, a villain whose motives are directly tied to Batman’s past.
Reeves shared that a major focus during development was crafting a villain with a compelling backstory and motivations, one that deeply explored their past and what shaped them. This was the central idea driving their creative conversations.
I can’t reveal the exact location we ended up at, but trust me, we’re incredibly hyped about it! It’s something totally new for a movie – honestly, I don’t think anyone’s ever seen anything like it before, and we’re really excited to share it.

Hush hasn’t been made into a live-action film yet. Also, his story is closely connected to Batman, specifically to Bruce Wayne’s past.
Hush, whose real name is Thomas Elliot, is a twisted reflection of Batman. Before becoming a villain, he was actually Bruce Wayne’s friend growing up. Though he came from a privileged and educated background, he suffered abuse at the hands of his father.
Bruce’s father once saved the mother of a man named Hush, but then Bruce’s own parents were murdered. After Bruce inherited the Wayne family wealth, things really escalated. I won’t go into further detail, but this character has the potential to be a truly frightening villain, and he seems to fit with the director’s vision for the film.
Reeves has previously expressed interest in using the character Hush in a future Batman film. When asked about potential villains, he told Twitter Movies, “Hush is a really interesting option for me.” However, he clarified that mentioning Hush doesn’t guarantee he’ll be the next villain, emphasizing that there are many possibilities.
