Medieval-themed games are incredibly popular right now, with titles like Kingdom Come: Deliverance (which is getting more content) and Manor Lords leading the way. The enduring appeal of knights and castles makes this setting a natural fit for gaming. But when it comes to realistically portraying the life of an ordinary person in the Middle Ages, Medieval Dynasty truly stands out. Plus, a sequel could be on the horizon!
Five years, 111 updates, and a brand-new game in the works
Five years ago, Medieval Dynasty was first released in Early Access on Steam. To celebrate this milestone, the developers at Render Cube created a special video reflecting on the game’s origins and what inspired them to continue developing it. They’ve released an impressive 111 updates since the initial launch and still have plans for more content. However, because the game is built on Unreal Engine 4, they’ve reached technical limitations that are leading them to consider creating a completely new game.
The team behind *Medieval Dynasty* is developing a brand new game using Unreal Engine 5. It’s being built from the ground up, meaning it’s not a sequel or expansion to their existing game.
After five years of experience and valuable feedback, we’re confident we can launch our next game more successfully and incorporate even more of your ideas. While we’re not ready to announce the game just yet, we can assure you it will be significantly larger and offer a much more in-depth experience than our current one.
I’m so excited! Render Cube is celebrating five years of *Medieval Dynasty* and they’ve hinted at a fun giveaway where we can win prizes! I’m definitely keeping an eye out for more news from them soon.

The developers have promised continued support for *Medieval Dynasty* with future updates and downloadable content, meaning any announcement of a new game – or even a *Medieval Dynasty 2* – is likely a long way off. Let’s hope they were more careful recording animal sounds this time, and took proper safety measures, unlike what happened with the goats.
