The first part of the final season of Stranger Things premiered on November 26th, and now a new trailer reveals the terrifying challenges awaiting the characters as they try to defeat Vecna for good.
Netflix shared a new trailer for the second part of the series on Good Morning America and has several interviews with the cast planned for this week. The trailer focuses on Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, and her reunion with her sister, Kali, played by Linnea Berthelsen.
The series offers a bit more screen time for Will, the sorcerer played by Noah Schnapp, though it’s brief. We see him mainly during scenes where Vecna, played by Jamie Campbell Bower, struggles with his own identity while still menacing Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher).
In episode 6, titled “Escape from Camazotz,” we see Max, played by Sadie Sink, attempting to flee through various doorways.
In a recent interview with Deadline, the creators of Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer, revealed that the second part of the season will delve into Vecna’s past as Henry Creel. This backstory was teased when Max entered Vecna’s mind and briefly saw a high school, including a young Joyce Byers.
According to director Shawn Levy, episodes six and seven are particularly moving. He also revealed that Mike and Will will be central to the final episodes, fueling fans’ hopes for a romantic connection – often called ‘Byler’ – between the two characters.
At the end of the first volume, Will unexpectedly revealed he had powers, which he accessed by connecting with Vecna. He used these powers to protect his friends from the Demogorgons, defeating them in a way that mirrored how Vecna later targeted and harmed people in season four to create openings between Hawkins and the Upside Down.
The first part of Stranger Things season 5 is now streaming on Netflix. The second part will be released on December 25th, and the very last episodes of the series will be available on December 31st.
