I’m a huge Quentin Tarantino fan, and like a lot of people, I think he’s a brilliant filmmaker – and he definitely isn’t afraid to speak his mind! Everyone always argues about which of his movies is the best, but for me, it’s always been the Kill Bill films. Tarantino himself always thought of Kill Bill as one long movie, even though it was released in two parts. Now, they’re putting The Whole Bloody Affair in theaters, letting us watch both movies together. Honestly, though, even as a big fan, I’m not entirely convinced seeing them back-to-back in a theater will be a great experience.
I first became a fan of Quentin Tarantino with the Kill Bill movies, which came out in 2003 and 2004. As a kid, I watched those films on DVD constantly and can still recite almost the entire first volume, including all of Tarantino’s nods to other movies and TV shows. Even so, committing more than four hours to watch both Kill Bill films back-to-back feels like a big undertaking, even for a dedicated fan like me.
I’m Not Sure I Can Commit To Over 4 Hours In A Movie Theater
For years, fans have argued whether Kill Bill should be considered one film or two. Quentin Tarantino always intended it as a single story, originally envisioning it being watched all at once. However, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 were released six months apart. Now, The Whole Bloody Affair allows viewers to experience Tarantino’s original vision, though it requires a significant time commitment.
Okay, buckle up, because seeing this movie is a commitment. We’re talking four hours and twenty-two minutes – and that includes a fifteen-minute break to hit the restroom and grab more snacks! Factor in all the trailers, and you’re looking at nearly five hours in the theater. Seriously, clear your schedule!

The Kill Bill movies are definitely fun, but it’s a matter of practicality. With the holidays already taking up so much time, who really has hours to dedicate to such a long film? And let’s be real, sitting through it presents some challenges – needing bathroom breaks and dealing with discomfort from sitting for so long. It’s even longer than movies like Titanic or the Avatar films!
I really appreciate how the story is divided into two parts. While the first volume introduces mysteries, like the Bride’s identity, watching everything back-to-back lessens the impact of those reveals – even if you’re already familiar with the movies.
