Mega Man is returning in a brand new game, Mega Man: Dual Overdrive, as revealed at The Game Awards! For over 35 years, the series has featured the villainous Dr. Wiley building robot bosses to stop Mega Man from disrupting his evil schemes. Now, you have the chance to create a robot boss for Mega Man to battle in the new game.
I’m so excited about the Mega Man: Dual Overdrive Robot Design Contest! It’s already underway, but there’s a catch – Capcom has a general idea of what they want for this new Robot Master. They’re looking for a villain with a really powerful suction ability in their right arm. They even gave us a base design to start with, which is awesome. If you’re 13 or older, you can take that design and really make it your own – it’s a great chance to create a totally new bad guy for Mega Man!
You can find complete contest information on Capcom’s website. Submissions are open to artists from Japan, North America, South America, Europe, and Asia until January 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM PST. To enter, simply follow the @Megaman account on X and submit your artwork. Capcom’s team will review all entries and select the top six designs, then choose a final winner from those finalists.
The winning design will be featured in Mega Man: Dual Override. While only the grand prize winner’s work will be used in the game, all six finalists will be recognized with a credit in Mega Man: Dual Overdrive.
Mega Man: Dual Overdrive is coming to Nintendo Switch, the next Nintendo console, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in 2027. While a precise release date hasn’t been announced, the game is planned to launch in time for the 40th anniversary of the original Mega Man.
Capcom recently announced that more games are coming for the Mega Man, Ace Attorney, and Devil May Cry series. Fans can expect a collection of Mega Man Star Force games to be released on current gaming consoles in 2026.
