Remedy Entertainment has revealed more details about the sequel to their 2019 game, Control, called Control Resonant. Unlike the first game, which was primarily an action-adventure title, Control Resonant is being developed as a full-fledged, open-world action RPG. Remedy is publishing the game, but they’re working with Annapurna Pictures, who are co-financing and co-producing it.
I’m so hyped for Control Resonant! You play as Dylan Faden, Jesse Faden’s brother, and the FBC sends him in to deal with a brand new, weird situation happening in Manhattan. The trailer showed off his awesome weapon – it can change into different forms like poles, a club, and even a sickle! And it looks like Dylan can mess with the environment around him and power up his arms for some seriously powerful close-range attacks. It’s going to be amazing!
Check out the announcement trailer and first images for Control Resonant, launching in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (through Steam and the Epic Games Store).
Remedy Entertainment today announced Control Resonant, the sequel to their popular and award-winning game, Control. This new action-adventure RPG takes players to a distorted version of Manhattan facing total destruction. You’ll play as Dylan Faden, using unique abilities to fight for his life and prevent a reality-altering cosmic danger. Remedy Entertainment is publishing the game, with financial and production support from Annapurna Pictures through a new partnership. Control Resonant is planned for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), and Mac (via Steam and the App Store).
After being held captive by the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) for years, Dylan Faden is now being sent into action during a major supernatural emergency. He’s tasked with fighting a strange, powerful being that’s changing reality itself. To succeed, Dylan must learn to control his newly discovered abilities and battle the numerous threats flooding Manhattan. Along the way, he’ll search for his sister, Jesse Faden, who directs the FBC, while trying to understand and stop the dangerous forces that have escaped from the Oldest House and are threatening to destroy the world.
According to Mikael Kasurinen, Creative Director of Control Resonant, the new game takes the series’ unique action RPG gameplay to a much larger and more dynamic world where player choices really matter. He says you don’t need to have played the original Control to enjoy this sequel, as it’s designed to be both accessible and incredibly engaging. The team has significantly expanded every aspect of the game – combat, exploration, and the story itself – aiming for a more epic and unforgettable experience. Kasurinen describes it as a bold and ambitious project, and they are excited for players to dive in.
Okay, so in Control Resonant, I’m dropped into a seriously messed up Manhattan. This cosmic force is totally warping reality – buildings are shifting, gravity’s going crazy, and it’s just a nightmare to look at. I’ll be exploring these mind-bending locations and even diving into this weird, psychological space that reflects the main character, Dylan Faden’s, inner turmoil. I get to unlock and control Dylan’s powers, customizing them as I go through a pretty deep progression system. The enemies are constantly changing, so I need to use everything around me – the environment, elemental abilities, and this crazy shapeshifting weapon called the Aberrant – to survive. It’s going to be intense!
