Okay, so I just saw the news at The Game Awards and I’m seriously hyped! The creators of The Forest and Sons of the Forest, Endnight Games, are making a Forest 3! What’s really wild is it looks like they’re ditching the islands we know and sending us to another planet. The trailer showed a spaceship totally crashing, and while it’s a new world, it’s still packed with those creepy mutants we love to hate. I can’t wait to see what this new adventure brings!
Now for a completely unexpected world premiere. Here’s Forest 3! #TheGameAwards

The trailer opens with a warm and inviting spaceship interior, a surprising contrast to the world of The Forest and Sons of the Forest. It quickly becomes clear something is wrong when the ship malfunctions and crashes into a swamp on a strange planet, and the trailer gradually reveals the terrifying environment.
Although Sons of the Forest suggested the story’s main puzzle involved aliens, it’s still unexpected that the next game will move the action to a new planet. Details about Forest 3 are currently scarce, including its setting and when it takes place. Sons of the Forest was set a few years after the first game, but it’s unknown if Forest 3 will follow a similar timeline or be set much further into the future.
We don’t yet know exactly how the game will play. Unlike the first Forest game, Sons of the Forest allowed up to eight players to play together, and it’s expected that the next installment will also include this cooperative multiplayer feature.
The latest trailer debuted at The Game Awards 2025, an event known for showcasing new game announcements more than actually handing out awards. You can find a recap of all the biggest reveals and a list of this year’s winners here.
