The highly anticipated Xbox game, South of Midnight, will now also be available on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Compulsion Games, the game’s developer, announced it will launch on these platforms in Spring 2026.
South of Midnight was released on PC and Xbox Series X|S in April. PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are expected to follow around a year later, depending on the exact release dates.
South of Midnight takes place in the American Deep South, where players will experience a story centered around Hazel and her mother as they brace for a major hurricane.
More Xbox games are now available on competing platforms. This week, Microsoft released Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 for PlayStation 5, following the release of titles like Doom: The Dark Ages and The Outer Worlds 2 earlier this year. And next year, players on PS5 will also be able to experience Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Microsoft is expanding the reach of its Xbox games by making them available on competitor platforms. This move aims to increase revenue, especially given the significantly larger number of PlayStation 5 owners.
TopMob gave South of Midnight a score of 8 out of 10 in their review. While the combat and platforming aren’t groundbreaking, they work well enough. Reviewer Jordan Ramée highlighted that the game’s strong points – its memorable characters, beautiful graphics, and great music – more than make up for the merely adequate gameplay.
