WorldMap and WhisperGames have released an early playable version of the PC game, The End of History, on Steam. The game is a strategy RPG created by Hiroshi Sakakibara, also known as “Tatamibeya,” a solo developer who previously contributed to the environment art for Cyberpunk 2077.
The game is set in a made-up medieval world where you’ll try to save it from falling apart because of growing conflict and disagreement. You can play as different characters, from a thief to a king or queen, and your choices will significantly impact the story and everyone around you.
Just so you know, the game on Steam notes that some elements were created using AI. While the characters and backgrounds are all hand-drawn, the developer, Tatamibeya, used AI to create some of the menus and icons. They plan to improve these in future updates, and are asking players for feedback to see if they can replace the AI-generated elements with hand-made ones before the game is fully released.
Official screenshots and details for The End of History are available below. Currently, the game supports Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese languages as part of its Early Access release.

Medieval Sandbox RPG: Weave Your Destiny
『The End of History』 is a sandbox-style strategy RPG set in a medieval-inspired world.
You begin the story as a young person leaving their foster home, setting out on a journey into the unknown.
In a world where the motives of numerous NPCs intertwine, and cooperation and betrayal collide,
you become a part of this world and can live freely as you choose.
Stop the Collapse of the World
You have one crucial task: prevent global disaster. The world is spiraling towards destruction because of growing hatred and conflict. Remember that everything you do will have an impact, so pay close attention to the results of your actions.
Live Freely
You can be anyone you want in this world – from an unknown wanderer to a powerful ruler like a thief, merchant, knight, or king. It’s all about the choices you make, as they determine your fate.
‘Obelisk’ Mystery
This enormous, enigmatic structure contains the knowledge of a vast and ancient world. Now, it’s lost to time, with only pieces remaining that must be gathered to reveal its secrets.
A Unique Story──
This is not a heroic tale, but a record of historical observation. The aftermath of battles, the words exchanged, the small, forgotten choices──
all of these stir emotions and change actions. NPCs will continue to live their lives without you.
However, your decisions create ripples in their stories.
This game does not depict a predetermined scenario, but a unique and unrepeatable history
born from the player’s involvement.
