Perfect Dark Devs Launch New Studio At Take-Two Following Game’s Cancellation

It’s highly unlikely the Perfect Dark reboot will happen after being cancelled last year. However, two key people who were working on the game – studio head Darrell Gallagher and director Brian Horton – have joined Take-Two Interactive.

Jason Schreier of Bloomberg first reported on Bluesky that Greg Gallagher and Julian Horton are launching a new studio. This studio will operate as part of Take-Two Interactive, but so far, no information has been released about the games they plan to create.

According to Schreier’s reporting, Take-Two Interactive almost brought back the Perfect Dark reboot, but negotiations failed because of a disagreement over who would own the rights to the game. Despite this, it appears that both Gallagher and Horton impressed Take-Two enough during the process to be offered jobs.

Last summer, Gallagher spoke about the cancellation of the Perfect Black reboot, and expressed how proud he was of the skilled team he assembled. It’s currently unknown whether other team members who were affected by the cancellation will join Gallagher and Horton at their new studio.

Take-Two Interactive, the company behind the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 developer Rockstar Games, is facing controversy. Rockstar recently laid off employees, reportedly due to leaks of confidential information. This has sparked accusations of the company trying to prevent workers from forming a union, and the issue is expected to be litigated in court.
