Following unsuccessful ventures into game services, like Concord, Sony Interactive Entertainment is refocusing on what its development teams excel at: creating compelling single-player games. According to their latest report, Sony aims to become known as a leader in delivering high-quality, story-driven experiences for individual players.
This doesn’t mean the company is giving up on live-service games – they’re still part of their plans. However, fans will be happy to hear the company is now giving more thought to different types of games, especially since focusing on single-player experiences wasn’t a priority last year.
Since the PlayStation 5 launched in 2020, we’ve seen a number of games released only on that console, including titles like Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Horizon: Forbidden West. We’ve also had many updated versions of older games, and some of those haven’t been well-received by players.
In October 2025, players can look forward to Ghost of Yotei, a sequel to the popular 2020 game, Ghost of Tsushima. Other anticipated titles like Marvel’s Wolverine (currently planned for 2026), Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Saros don’t have confirmed release dates yet.

Sony’s latest report didn’t highlight income from games released on platforms other than PlayStation. This, along with their stated goal of becoming known for amazing single-player games, suggests Sony is concentrating on building and improving its own gaming world.
