This page will have spoilers for Octopath Traveler 0.
As you get close to finishing the main story in Octopath Traveler 0, you’ll face one final choice before seeing the end credits. It might not be immediately clear when or how to make this decision. This guide will explain how to unlock the different endings, balancing avoiding spoilers with providing clear instructions.
Octopath Traveler II has two different endings. The ending you receive is determined by the choices you make in a specific location – a house in the snow – which you’ll visit right before the final boss battle. This location isn’t formally named within the game, so it’s best known as ‘the lone house in the snow,’ and you won’t be able to miss it before the game’s conclusion.
Here’s a helpful tip for Octopath Traveler II: saving your game in the final dungeon (‘Garden of Sin,’ right before the warp altars) will create a special blue pedestal. This pedestal lets you go back and choose a different ending path. You can experience both endings as many times as you want, and getting one ending won’t stop you from getting the other.

Ending 1: Champion of the Continent
This is what happens if you don’t trigger any special conditions – we’ll call it the ‘Standard Ending’. To get this ending, when you find the house in the snow at the end of the Heavens dungeon, just leave. The people inside will try to talk to you, but ignore them and exit. If you haven’t upgraded your ring (check the details for the other ending), this is your only option.
After you exit the isolated house and go back to the Heavens, you’ll face Bestower of All, one of the last bosses in the game.
Completing this ending will get you the Champion of the Continent trophy/achievement.
Ending 2: Traveler from Zero
This ending feels like the definitive conclusion to the game, as it requires more effort to unlock. Reaching it also earns you the last Traveler, and the “The Summoned” trophy/achievement if you’ve befriended all the others.
To unlock this ending, you must revisit the Flamebearer’s Shrine: Sanctum and interact with the large blue flame before going to the isolated house in the snow. The game won’t guide you with a marker, but interacting with the flame will start a challenging optional boss fight. If you defeat the boss, your character’s ring will gain new power.
Okay, so if you’ve already witnessed the scene at the Flamebearer’s Shrine, you need to get back to that little house covered in snow. Seriously, if you’re lost, use the blue ‘rewind time’ pedestal in the Garden of Sin – it’ll take you right back. Once you’re inside the house, a new option will appear letting you ‘Illuminate’ the three people you meet. Do that, and you’re well on your way to getting this specific ending! It changes the final boss you fight, and you’ll finally collect the last Traveler.
The main character’s ring might become unusable during certain events, which will limit their access to powerful abilities. However, you can always fix it by going back to the Flamebearer’s Shrine.
Completing this ending will give you the Traveler from Zero trophy/achievement.
Just a heads-up: completing Ending 2 might also unlock the ‘Champion of the Continent’ achievement, but I haven’t confirmed this for sure.
Post-Game
After finishing both storylines in Octopath Traveler II, a powerful new boss becomes available in the Cove of Clouds, found within the Skies of Vanity area of the Heavens dungeon. Defeating Amatsukami no Orochi is the final challenge and unlocks the “Dragonslayer” trophy/achievement. You’ll also obtain a Floating Stone, likely completing your collection of Legendary Treasures.
Defeating Amatsukami no Orochi gives you a Heavenly Jewel. Placing this jewel in the Strange House will allow you to complete your Music Score collection. To do this, you must first reach Agapea.
