Hollow Knight: Silksong Creators Confirm DLC Is Coming

Following seven years of development, Team Cherry’s sequel to Hollow Knight, titled Silksong, became a major hit in 2025. The team has also announced they’re planning to release downloadable content (DLC) for the game, though it won’t be available immediately.

In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Team Cherry’s Ari Gibson explained they’re still actively developing the game and focusing on exciting new content. He understands fans want to know when they can expect updates, and reassured them that new content is planned for the near future, not years down the line.

Gibson shared that he and William Pellen, his co-founder at Team Cherry, had some initial thoughts for downloadable content, but they didn’t want to get fans excited about something they couldn’t guarantee. He also hinted that Steel Assassin Sharpe, a character who appeared in the original game, might be returning.

Gibson explained that Sharpe is ready to return but needs some final touches. The character and his companions were temporarily set aside during development because the game already had a lot of content. The team is eager to bring Sharpe back, but they need time to refine everything before they do.

Team Cherry has been steadily updating Silksong, recently releasing a PC patch to make the game easier. This update also toned down the challenging Muckmaggots and swapped the official Chinese translation for a fan-created one that players prefer. Previous updates included support for the DualSense Edge controller and fixes for various bugs. Team Cherry has stated that the game’s high difficulty stems from the strength of the main character, Hornet.
