Even if he’s not in the DC Universe yet, still remains popular on streaming.
According to data from FlixPatrol, the movie Blue Beetle made it into Netflix’s Top 10 during the week of November 18th. Despite being released in 2023, DC fans are still watching the film, proving continued interest in the superhero. Blue Beetle joins other popular titles like Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Last Samurai Standing on the list. Meanwhile, KPop Demon Hunters continues to perform well on Netflix, remaining a popular choice since its debut.
According to FlixPatrol, the new movie Blue Beetle centers on Jaime Reyes, a recent college graduate who returns home hoping to start his future, but finds things have changed. While searching for his place in the world, he unexpectedly comes into possession of an ancient alien artifact called the Scarab. Though Blue Beetle first appeared in DC Comics back in 1939, it’s taken almost 90 years for the character to get his own live-action movie. Fans are already hoping to see more of Xolo Maridueña as Blue Beetle in future films.
The movie Blue Beetle launched with a 78% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with many critics highlighting Xolo Maridueña’s captivating performance as the lead. Some reviewers felt it was a strong introduction to the character and appreciated how the film incorporated Latino culture. Others found it entertaining, but wished it had offered more as a superhero movie.
What’s Next For Blue Beetle and Xolo Maridueña?
James Gunn, head of DC Studios, has indicated that the film Blue Beetle could easily be integrated into the new DC Universe. However, they might need to make some minor adjustments to the story to ensure it fits perfectly. While a TV series was previously reported to be in development, its release date is still uncertain. Fortunately, actor Xolo Maridueña will reprise his role as Blue Beetle, even though DC hasn’t decided if they’ll make a Blue Beetle movie sequel.
Following the success of Cobra Kai, Xolo Maridueña’s casting has generated a lot of excitement. As fans await Season 3 of One Piece, the story of Blue Beetle is still unfolding.
Blue Beetle is streaming on HBO Max, Netflix, and HBO Max on Hulu.
