I can’t believe it! In the latest twist that no one saw coming, my favorite character, Bobby, has been written off in an episode of Contagion. The talented Peter Krause won’t be reprising his role for Season 9 of 9-1-1, but there’s already a subtle tribute to Bobby hidden somewhere – an Easter egg in his memory. I can only imagine what the next season will bring without him!
During the initial part of a two-episode storyline about a virus outbreak, the character Chimey was intentionally misled. At first, he was believed to be a member of the 118 who had perished due to a deadly virus in a lab that was torched by a deranged scientist. However, once the virus spread through the air, everyone confined within became potentially infected.
Instead, we could say: Eventually, it fell upon Bobby to face his fate. Having rescued Ravi and Hen, Bobby passed on the vial of antidote that the external team had discovered, leaving no other option than to succumb to his failing health.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming events in the TV world. In the heart-wrenching finale of our beloved show on May 1st, we’ll bear witness to Bobby’s funeral in Season 8 – quite a scene, if I do say so myself. And here’s something interesting: with the recent renewal of 9-1-1 for Season 9, it seems they plan to remember our dear character in some special way. Already, they’ve dropped a hint on social media, subtly referred to as an Easter egg. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds!
9-1-1 Season 9 renewal news comes with a Bobby Easter egg
Looking at Oliver Stark’s Instagram post about the renewal of 9-1-1 Season 9, you’ll see that Peter Krause is credited for the photography. This could be an indication that Bobby’s legacy will be acknowledged more prominently in future episodes, but exactly how remains to be seen.
The fan expressed deep sorrow by saying, ‘I’m devastated… I’ll surely miss Bobby.’ Another fan echoed this sentiment, ‘I can’t imagine it without Bobby… my condolences.’
It’s unclear yet how Bobby’s death in Season 9 might impact viewership or the plotlines, but one thing we do know is that there will be an additional 18 episodes in Season 9, possibly airing around fall 2025.
As a devoted fan myself, I’m thrilled to share that we’ve got another exciting addition coming our way – 911: Nashville, airing simultaneously! Chris O’Donnell takes the helm as Captain Don Sharpe in this spinoff. If you’re missing the vibe of 911 after Bobby’s departure, this could be an ideal destination for us all.
For Tim Minnear, the showrunner, this development seems logical. He explained to The Hollywood Reporter, “Once I started contemplating who should meet their end, it became clear that only one character fit – Bobby. This decision aligns with his character’s trajectory, serving as a fitting tragic conclusion to his storyline within the series.
It’s likely no surprise to you, but Buck is confirmed to return for Season 9 as one of the initial 118 combatants who escaped the lab without injury. In the trailer for Season 8, it appears he will be the one whom Chimey confides in deeply, expressing his feelings by saying, “He sacrificed himself so I could survive… I’m just unsure about what I should do with that.
