80% RT Score: DreamWorks’ Dog Man Hits Streaming Next Month!

Following a triumphant stint on stage, this popular production is now set for streaming. One of the most anticipated animated films of 2025 from DreamWorks Animation, it’s slated to premiere on Peacock in May.

Beginning May 30th, the comic adventure “Dog Man” will start streaming exclusively on Peacock. This is approximately four months after its theater premiere in late January. Notably, this will be the third release of 2025 that Peacock subscribers can stream next month. Following this are the streaming debuts of Steven Soderbergh’s critically acclaimed spy thriller “Black Bag” on May 2nd and the action comedy “Love Hurts,” led by Ke Huy Quan, on May 9th. Furthermore, Universal’s new monster movie “Wolf Man” was added to Peacock on April 18th.

Peter Hastings is the writer and director of the film “Dog Man”, which is adapted from the popular graphic novel series by Dav Pilkey. The movie loosely follows the first, third, and seventh books in the series. In the story, a police dog and his human officer partner are injured on duty, leading to an unconventional surgery that merges them into one being – Dog Man. As he adjusts to his new identity and tries to win over his superior, Dog Man takes on the task of stopping Petey the Cat from cloning himself and creating a malevolent kitten, thereby amplifying his evil capabilities. The narrative shifts when the kitten unexpectedly forms a bond with Dog Man, and they discover that even the most bitter enemies can be united by family ties.

The animated film titled “Dog Man” turned out to be an unexpected blockbuster success despite its $40 million production cost. Critics were equally impressed, as reflected by the favorable reviews on aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.

What’s Next for DreamWorks Animation?

Following the departure of “Dog Man”, the forthcoming DreamWorks Animation film to grace the big screen will be its sequel. The original voice cast from the 2022 movie is all set to return for this animated continuation, with Sam Rockwell reprising his role as Mr. Wolf, Marc Maron as the safe-cracker Mr. Snake, Craig Robinson as master-of-disguise Mr. Shark, Anthony Ramos as Mr. Piranha, and Awkwafina as hacker Ms. Tarantula/Webs. These characters will be accompanied by Danielle Brooks, Maria Bakalova, and Natasha Lyonne who voice the Bad Girls, a fresh group of criminals that compel the reformed Bad Guys to assist them in executing a heist.

2026 will mark the release of DreamWorks’ sequel to the beloved animated film, “Shrek Forever After”. The original cast members, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz, will return to voice Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona respectively. Additionally, Zendaya has been added to the cast, taking on the role of their daughter named Felicia in this new adventure.
