Pokemon That Feel Perfect in the Monster Hunter Universe
In the realm of Monster Hunter, numerous creatures, often referred to as “beasts,” inhabit this universe. Each one possesses unique defense mechanisms and exhibits distinct behaviors when confronted with aggression. What sets these monsters apart in the minds of fans is their unpredictable and aggressive nature. This is why they are called “monsters” – these wild creatures can attack you without any apparent provocation or warning. With this in mind, I have selected Pokémon that would suitably complement such an unruly environment. The names are as follows:
This version maintains the original’s clarity and natural flow while making it more engaging for readers by using active verbs and a conversational tone.
- Steelix
- Gyarados
- Charizard
- Giratina
- Guzzlord
Some of these might not be familiar to you. If you’re curious to learn more about them and understand why they made our list, continue scrolling down.

1. Steelix
As a longtime Pokémon fan, I can’t help but reminisce about Onix, the Rock/Ground-type Pokémon. For kids who grew up watching it in any Pokémon anime, Onix might have seemed quite scary. However, its evolved form, Steelix, is a different story altogether. Steelix, being a Steel/Ground-type Pokémon, appears much more menacing than Onix ever did.
While Onix’s massive Rock-type size could be intimidating, there was always an air of laziness about it that made you think it might not bother chasing you down. But, when you see Steelix, its eyes seem to promise a relentless pursuit that could take you all the way to the very core of the earth.
In a genuinely impressive feat, Steelix is known to have burrowed more than six-tenths of a mile beneath the Earth’s surface, making its way towards the core. Players hunting monsters in Monster Hunter might encounter Steelix within a scorching volcanic cavern, offering limited options for escape.
2. Gyarados
In a seemingly innocent guise, Magikarp appears like a humble goldfish, but few anticipate the surprising transformation that follows. Given the perfect circumstances, Magikarp transforms into the formidable Gyarados – a Pokemon known for its ability to fly and being a Water-type creature. It’s almost unheard of to encounter it in anything other than an angry state. In most cases, you’ll find it enraged rather than content. The fact that it thrives in water bodies makes it even more terrifying when encountered within its natural habitat. A character from any Monster Hunter game would surely face a fierce battle against this beastly opponent.

3. Charizard
Frankly speaking, Charizard doesn’t appear as the most intimidating Pokemon on this brief list. In fact, throughout the anime series, there have been numerous heartwarming instances involving this Pokemon, making it hard to perceive it as a ferocious beast. However, if it were introduced in the Monster Hunter Universe with a more authentic character design, I’m convinced that it could easily become one of the scariest monsters within that series.
This belief is largely based on Charizard’s unique powers and its considerable stature, as well as its fiery tail which serves as a warning for monster hunters not to approach it from behind without caution, to avoid getting singed.
4. Giratina
In Monster Hunter Universe, encountering a Pokémon with both dragon and ghost-like characteristics could be quite terrifying for the hunters. Visualizing a battle against Giratina, a Pokémon that not only breathes fire like a dragon but also exhibits mysterious abilities associated with ghosts, can be absolutely petrifying, especially for novice players in the Monster Hunter Universe. This formidable creature has made limited appearances since its initial debut in the 2008 Nintendo DS game, “Pokémon Platinum,” and the 2008 animated film, “Pokémon: Giratina and the Sky Warrior.
Yet, its imposing look hints at being a captivating newcomer to the Monster Hunter’s collection of beasts.
5. Guzzlord
In the chilling expanse of the Monster Hunter Universe, Guzzlord would undoubtedly serve as another terrifying spectacle. This towering figure made its debut in the 2016 Nintendo 3DS games, Pokemon Sun and Moon. Regrettably, there’s scant data about its pre- or post-evolutionary forms. However, what we do know is that Guzzlord is a formidable Dark/Dragon-type Pokemon, seemingly indomitable in many encounters. What makes it even more unsettling for the Monster Hunter Universe is its insatiable hunger – a trait shared by few monsters, but multiplied by the sheer size and power of Guzzlord. The thought of this colossal beast setting its sights on me, ready to take a devastating bite, sends shivers down my spine!
Given that Fairy-type Pokemon are usually Guzzlord’s vulnerability, overcoming it in Monster Hunter could prove challenging.
