At long last, the Fantastic Four are joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and along with them comes a formidable lineup of villains, one of which is among Marvel’s most dangerous adversaries – physically. Known as Galactus, the world-devourer, he is an immense cosmic entity whose power cannot be matched by mere physical strength. Fortunately, the Fantastic Four aren’t your typical superheroes; they are thinkers, adventurers, and survivors, which will undoubtedly come in handy when confronting such a formidable foe.
As a movie enthusiast and long-time follower of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I can’t help but feel a thrill at the prospect of seeing Galactus make his grand entrance on the big screen. The MCU has consistently demonstrated its ability to breathe new life into comic book narratives while maintaining an emotional core, and this cosmic titan presents an unparalleled test – not just for Reed Richards and his team, but for the very foundation of the MCU’s celestial balance.
Galactus may not be conventionally wicked; instead, he feeds to sustain himself, offering Marvel a chance to delve into a struggle that is as profoundly philosophical as it is cataclysmic. This conflict holds the potential to captivate audiences and push the boundaries of what we’ve come to expect from the MCU.
In other words, we’re wondering how the Fantastic Four might counteract a powerful being with cosmic appetites for planets? With comics providing various solutions over time, some of these strategies could translate well onto the big screen. Here are at least five intriguing, MCU-compatible tactics that the team could employ to prevent Earth’s destruction.
How Marvel’s First Family Could Outsmart Galactus
Galactus wouldn’t know what hit him if Reed Richards and the family deploy these cunning methods.
Wielding the Ultimate Nullifier
The Ultimate Nullifier is the ultimate power move. It’s a surprisingly compact gadget that can eliminate anything or everything from existence altogether. In Fantastic Four issue #50, Reed Richards, under Uatu the Watcher’s guidance, used it to scare off Galactus from Earth. This tool, usually kept on Galactus’ spaceship, Taa II, is so potent that even Galactus himself is wary of it; if misused, it could erase him and entire universes.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Johnny Storm might race off to planet Taa II to get the Nullifier, possibly with the Silver Surfer’s unwilling assistance. With his brilliant mind, Reed would have to handle it carefully, since its strength hinges on the user’s mental concentration.
Watching Reed bluff a cosmic being using a weapon that carries the risk of unintentionally shattering existence would make for an edge-of-your-seat event. The Nullifier, true to its comic origins, aligns perfectly with Shakman’s concept of a thrilling cosmic conflict.
Cutting a Deal With Galactus
Instead of being a mischievous destroyer, Galactus is more like a colossal cosmic bear searching for food in a campsite, driven by hunger rather than whim. Previously, he’s even made agreements, such as sparing Earth in exchange for the return of the Nullifier in Fantastic Four #50. The Fantastic Four could opt for diplomacy, proposing something that can appease Galactus’ appetite without compromising Earth.
In his futuristic lab, Reed might create an artificial energy source, and with Sue’s soothing persuasion, they could get Galactus to pay attention. The Silver Surfer, caught between loyalty to his master and compassion for Earth, could serve as the mediator. It’s a daring strategy that relies on the team’s skill in convincing an ancient being to try a different diet.
As a devoted fan of superhero movies, I can’t help but appreciate the unique style of the Fantastic Four. Unlike other heroes who often resort to brawls, they prefer to think outside the box and come up with ingenious solutions. The upcoming movie “First Steps” seems particularly promising as it sets the stage for intriguing tales within the Marvel Cinematic Universe that are yet to unfold.
Luring Galactus to a Barren Planet
Galactus requires planets for his existence, whether they host coffee shops or are merely composed of rocks doesn’t matter to him. In Fantastic Four issue #48-50, Uatu the Watcher wished he’d choose an uninhabited world over Earth. In The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the team devised a plan to make Galactus consume an uninhabited planet instead of Earth, avoiding a confrontation.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Reed and Sue might create an artifact that mimics a planet’s life force energy, enticing Galactus to a desolate celestial body. Johnny Storm would then release this device while Ben Hulk handles any hindrances along the way. The Silver Surfer’s understanding of their master’s tendencies could also prove crucial for the plan.
Overloading Galactus
If you overfeed a galaxy-devouring entity like Galactus, what ensues might be something similar to cosmic indigestion. Historically, Galactus has been weakened by energy surges, such as the instance when the Silver Surfer used his technology against him around Chandilar, causing him to shrink into a star. The Fantastic Four could potentially exploit this vulnerability, overwhelming Galactus with an excessive amount of cosmic energy.
In “First Steps”, Reed might employ the colossal Energy Absorber (as depicted in the trailer as an immense power consumer) to channel turbulent celestial energy towards Galactus.
1. The Human Torch’s flames might trigger an overload, Invisible Woman could regulate the power surge, while The Thing keeps a vital physical link to the gadget. With the Silver Surfer providing directions, as he is well-versed in Galactus’ technology, the device transforms into an improvised energy absorber.
2. If the Human Torch’s flames cause an overload, Invisible Woman can manage the power spike, and The Thing ensures a steady physical contact with the device. Guided by the Silver Surfer, who understands Galactus’ tech perfectly, the contraption functions as a temporary energy absorber.
3. With the Human Torch’s flames potentially leading to an overload, Invisible Woman can control the power surge, and The Thing keeps the physical connection intact. Under the guidance of Silver Surfer, who is familiar with Galactus’ technology, the gadget transforms into a makeshift energy absorber.
4. In case the Human Torch’s flames result in an overload, Invisible Woman can handle the power surge, and The Thing maintains physical contact. With Silver Surfer leading the way due to his expertise in Galactus’ technology, the gadget acts as a temporary energy absorber.
5. If the Human Torch’s flames lead to an overload, Invisible Woman can balance the power surge, and The Thing preserves a physical link. With Silver Surfer at the helm due to his knowledge of Galactus’ technology, the gadget turns into a makeshift energy absorber.
6. Should the Human Torch’s flames lead to an overload, Invisible Woman can regulate the power surge, and The Thing ensures physical continuity. With Silver Surfer in charge due to his proficiency in Galactus’ technology, the device functions as a makeshift energy absorber.
7. In case the Human Torch’s flames result in an overload, Invisible Woman can mitigate the power surge, and The Thing maintains physical connectivity. With Silver Surfer orchestrating due to his understanding of Galactus’ technology, the gadget becomes a makeshift energy absorber.
8. If the Human Torch’s flames trigger an overload, Invisible Woman can contain the power surge, and The Thing preserves a physical bond. With Silver Surfer in command due to his familiarity with Galactus’ technology, the device operates as a makeshift energy absorber.
9. If the Human Torch’s flames cause an overload, Invisible Woman can dampen the power surge, and The Thing maintains a physical association. With Silver Surfer in charge due to his expertise in Galactus’ technology, the gadget functions as a makeshift energy absorber.
10. If the Human Torch’s flames result in an overload, Invisible Woman can control the power surge, and The Thing maintains a connection. With Silver Surfer leading due to his knowledge of Galactus’ technology, the device becomes a makeshift energy absorber.
Banishing Galactus to a Pocket Dimension
If you can’t outmatch a cosmic titan, find a way to transport him elsewhere. For instance, in comic books, Galactus has been confined to places such as the Negative Zone or mystical realms, like when the Eternals employed the God’s Whisper to do so.
In my role as a follower, I’m well-versed with the concept of dimensional travel thanks to the Fantastic Four. We might be able to create a tear in reality to imprison Galactus in a barren pocket universe. Reed Richards, our brilliant leader, can design a unique portal generator within Baxter Lab, tailored to transport Galactus into this lifeless pocket dimension.
