28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
January 16
This film was released in theaters and directed by Nia DaCosta. The cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, Erin Kellyman, Chi Lewis-Parry, and Cillian Murphy.
The shocking cliffhanger at the end of 28 Years Later will be addressed in the upcoming sequel, which will be directed by Nia DaCosta (known for Candyman) instead of Danny Boyle. Boyle is set to direct the third film in the series. The new movie, The Bone Temple, continues the story of Spike (played by Williams) and the group of zombie fighters he met in the previous film. Robert Murphy will return as Jim, his character from 28 Days Later.
The Rip
January 16
This film is a Netflix release directed by Joe Carnahan. The cast includes Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, Kyle Chandler, Néstor Carbonell, and Lina Esco.
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck reunite in a new Netflix action movie coming in January. They play Miami police officers who find millions of dollars hidden in an abandoned building. Before they can leave, they have to count the money, which puts them in a risky situation as both criminals and other officers consider stealing some for themselves.
The Moment
January 30
This film was released in theaters and directed by Aidan Zamiri. The cast includes Charli XCX, Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, Hailey Benton Gates, Isaac Powell, and Alexander Skarsgård.
Charli XCX appears in a special version of This Is Spinal Tap called Brat, a fake documentary from A24. The film follows a pop star as she gets ready for her first big tour, and Charli XCX plays a heightened, exaggerated version of herself.
Send Help
January 30
Release: Theatrical
Director: Sam Raimi
Stars: Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien
After all the epic, reality-bending stuff he did with Marvel, it’s great to see Sam Raimi back to doing what he does best – making really fun, smaller-scale genre movies. The story centers around Rachel McAdams, who gets a chance to really turn the tables on her awful boss, played by O’Brien, when they both end up stranded on a deserted island. It sounds like a blast!
Wuthering Heights
February 13
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Emerald Fennell. The film stars Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi, Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell.
Emerald Fennell’s wildly imaginative and sensual take on Emily Brontë’s classic novel is sure to be controversial, but it’s fantastic.
How to Make a Killing
February 20
I just got back from seeing a new film directed by John Patton Ford, and let me tell you, the cast is fantastic! Glen Powell and Margaret Qualley lead a really strong ensemble that also includes veterans like Ed Harris, alongside rising stars Jessica Henwick, Zach Wood, and even Topher Grace. It’s a theatrical release, so you’ll have to head to the cinemas to check it out.
Inspired by the 1949 British film Kind Hearts and Coronets, How to Make a Killing features James Powell as Becket Redfellow, a man cut off from his wealthy family at birth. Now, Becket is determined to claim his share of the $28 billion fortune, and he’s willing to eliminate the relatives standing in his way to get it.
The Bride!
March 6
This film was released in theaters and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. The cast includes Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz.
This isn’t a follow-up to Guillermo del Toro’s film, but a fresh, noir-style take on The Bride of Frankenstein. Pennant Buckley stars as a woman murdered in 1930s Chicago and resurrected by a scientist at the bidding of Frankenstein’s creature, portrayed by Bale. While the original film ended with the creature and his bride perishing in an explosion, this new movie explores themes of love, crime, and a changing society.
Project Hail Mary
March 20
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. It stars Ryan Gosling, Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub.
I’m really excited about the upcoming film based on Andy Weir’s latest novel – the same author who wrote The Martian! Everyone’s saying great things about it, and I’m already wondering if it’ll be a Best Picture contender like The Martian was. Ryan Gosling stars as Ryland Grace, a former middle school teacher who unexpectedly becomes an astronaut tasked with saving the planet, and he ends up teaming up with an alien who wants the same thing. It sounds fantastic!
The Drama
April 3
Okay, so I just heard about this new movie coming out in theaters. It’s directed by Kristoffer Borgli, and the cast is seriously impressive – Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, and Hailey Gates are all in it. I’m already excited!
In A24’s new romantic comedy-drama, Robert Pattinson and Zendaya star as a couple on the verge of marriage. However, just days before their wedding, one of them uncovers a surprising secret about the other, potentially derailing everything.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
April 3
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. The film stars Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Kevin Michael Richardson, Benny Safdie, and Brie Larson.
As a huge Mario fan, I was so excited to revisit the Mushroom Kingdom – and even venture beyond it! – in this new movie. It’s heavily inspired by Super Mario Galaxy, which is fantastic because that game had such a unique feel. You’ll definitely see elements from Super Mario Sunshine and Odyssey sprinkled in too. The story follows Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach as they race to stop Bowser Jr. from rescuing his dad (who’s been… miniaturized!), and they get some help from the awesome Rosalina, played by Brie Larson, along the way.
The Devil Wears Prada 2
May 1
This film was released in theaters and directed by David Frankel. The cast includes Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Tracie Thoms, and Tibor Feldman.
Get ready for a reunion with the iconic characters of The Devil Wears Prada! Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are all returning for a sequel set 20 years later. While the cast is sure to be as fabulous as ever, the magazine world they inhabit has definitely changed since the first movie.
Mortal Kombat II
May 8
Okay, so I just saw the new film, and let me tell you, it’s a full-on theatrical experience! Simon McQuoid is in the director’s chair, and the cast is absolutely stacked. We’re talking Karl Urban leading the charge, alongside Hiroyuki Sanada, Jessica McNamee, and a whole crew of fantastic actors including Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, Adeline Rudolph, and Tati Gabriell. It’s a real ensemble piece, and everyone brings their A-game.
One minor issue with the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie was the surprising absence of the actual Mortal Kombat tournament! The upcoming sequel aims to correct this, and it now has Karl Urban joining the cast as Johnny Cage. Cage is a popular character from the video game series, playing an action movie star who becomes a fighter in the tournament. The movie was originally planned for release in October 2025, but is now scheduled for May.
I Love Boosters
May 22
This film was released in theaters and directed by Boots Riley. The cast includes Demi Moore, Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, LaKeith Stanfield, Eiza González, Poppy Liu, and Will Poulter.
In the film, Palmer stars as the head of a group of women who steal high-end clothes from fancy stores, and they target a prominent fashion icon. As it’s a Boots Riley movie, expect a quirky, sci-fi twist to the humorous critique of society.
The Mandalorian and Grogu
May 22
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Jon Favreau. The film stars Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, and Jonny Coyne.
Similar to how Andor expanded the story of Rogue One, The Mandalorian and Grogu will bring Din Djarin and Grogu’s Disney+ series to a feature film, following them on a risky assignment for the New Republic.
Masters of the Universe
June 5
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Travis Knight. The cast includes Nicholas Galitzine, Jared Leto, Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Sasheer Zamata, James Purefoy, Charlotte Riley, and Kristen Wiig.
This new movie brings Prince Adam, also known as He-Man, back to his home planet, Eternia, after he’s spent twenty years living on Earth. It’s based on the popular 1980s Masters of the Universe series. The big question is: can he find the strength to beat his enemy, Skeletor? (Jared Leto plays Skeletor, and it seems like a perfect fit.)
Scary Movie 6
June 12
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Michael Tiddes. The cast includes Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Jon Abrahams, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Dave Sheridan, and Chris Elliott.
It’s been a long time since the last Scary Movie – all the way back in 2013! A lot of popular horror films have come out since then, offering plenty of new material for a parody. In fact, the trend of “elevated horror” hadn’t even started when Scary Movie 5 was released. Luckily, the Wayans brothers and Anna Faris are back for the new version!
Disclosure Day
June 12
This film was released in theaters and directed by Steven Spielberg. The cast includes Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell.
Details are scarce about Steven Spielberg’s latest film, his 37th, but we know it’s a story about aliens written by David Koepp. The movie seems to tackle the big question: are we alone? Josh O’Connor stars and will attempt to share the answer with the world. Given Spielberg’s history with alien-themed films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and War of the Worlds, this new project is generating a lot of anticipation. (We’re choosing to forget the aliens in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, though.)
Toy Story 5
June 19
This film was released in theaters and directed by Andrew Stanton. It stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Tony Hale, Anna Faris, Ernie Hudson, Conan O’Brien, Greta Lee, Blake Clark, and John Ratzenberger.
Many viewers believed Toy Story 3 provided a satisfying conclusion to the Toy Story series. However, Toy Story 4 surprised everyone with another successful film. Now, Pixar is revisiting the world of Toy Story with a fifth movie. This time, Woody, Buzz, and the other toys face a new challenge: competing for the attention of Bonnie, who is now eight years old, with a tablet named Lilypad – voiced by Lee – that has captured all of her time and focus.
Supergirl
June 26
This film was released in theaters and directed by Craig Gillespie. The cast includes Milly Alcock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham.
The second film in James Gunn’s reimagined DC Universe stars Supergirl, also known as Kara Zor-El (played by Alcock). Instead of the usual superhero battles, this movie follows Kara on a fun, galaxy-spanning adventure with her dog, Krypto, to celebrate her 23rd birthday. While she’s not quite the perfect hero like Superman, a serious event inspires her to do good – though she approaches it in her own unique and sometimes messy way. Supergirl is the first of two DC Universe films planned for next year, followed by Clayface on September 11th, a horror film focusing on a Batman villain.
Shrek 5
June 30
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon. It stars Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Zendaya, Marcello Hernández, and Skyler Gisondo.
The popular DreamWorks animated series Shrek is back with a fifth movie, taking place 16 years after Shrek Forever After. Joining the original cast – Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy – is Zendaya, who voices Shrek and Fiona’s teenage daughter, Felicia. The movie also features their other children, to be voiced by Julian Hernández and Domhnall Gleeson, though they weren’t shown in the initial trailer.
Moana
July 10
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Thomas Kail. The cast includes Catherine Laga’aia, Dwayne Johnson, John Tui, Frankie Adams, and Rena Owen.
Disney continues to produce live-action versions of its animated classics, and now Moana is getting the remake treatment just ten years after the original film’s release. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will return as Maui, but this time he’ll be playing the character in person, and Auli’i Cravalho will be replaced by a new actress, Laga’aia, as Moana.
Cut Off
July 17
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Jonah Hill. The cast includes Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Bette Midler, Nathan Lane, Adriana Barraza, Camila Cabello, Langston Kerman, and Chelsea Peretti.
This funny movie stars Hill and Wiig as spoiled siblings who are cut off financially by their parents (played by Midler and Lane). Suddenly, they have to learn to fend for themselves, and things probably don’t go smoothly!
The Odyssey
July 17
This film was released in theaters and directed by Christopher Nolan. The cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal.
After winning an Oscar for his biographical film about J. Robert Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan turned to a grand, mythological story rooted in ancient Greece. Starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, this film offers a fresh take on Homer’s classic tale and was notably shot entirely using IMAX’s large-format 70mm film cameras.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
July 31
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, Tramell Tillman, and Marvin Jones III.
Tom Holland will return as Spider-Man for another Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure in a film currently titled Brand New Day. The story begins after Peter Parker made the world forget who he is in No Way Home. Joining him will be Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, a gritty and dangerous vigilante, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner.
Flowervale Street
August 14
This film was released in theaters and directed by David Robert Mitchell. It stars Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, and Christian Convery.
This sci-fi movie is set in a typical 1980s suburban neighborhood where a family begins to experience odd and unexplained events. While the specifics of the story are being kept secret, rumors suggest Anne Hathaway may be battling dinosaurs!
Coyote vs. Acme
August 28
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Dave Green. It stars John Cena, Will Forte, Lana Condor, P.J. Byrne, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly, and Eric Bauza.
Good news for animation fans: despite initial plans to scrap it, Coyote vs. Acme will be released! The movie, a mix of live-action and animation, was almost canceled as a tax write-off last year, but has been rescued by Ketchup Entertainment. Will Forte stars as the lawyer defending the famous Looney Tunes character, Wile E. Coyote, who decides to sue the company responsible for all his hilariously failed schemes and resulting injuries.
How to Rob a Bank
September 4
This movie was released in theaters and directed by David Leitch. The cast includes Nicholas Hoult, Anna Sawai, Pete Davidson, Zoë Kravitz, Rhenzy Feliz, John C. Reilly, and Christian Slater.
Leitch’s new film, following The Fall Guy, centers around a group of bank robbers with a modern twist: they’re obsessed with gaining followers on social media. They document their crimes online, which frustratingly helps the police track them down.
Sense and Sensibility
September 11
This film was released in theaters and directed by Georgia Oakley. The cast includes Daisy Edgar-Jones, Esmé Creed-Miles, Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, Herbert Nordrum, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, George MacKay, and Fiona Shaw.
While several period romances are planned for 2026, including adaptations of classics like Wuthering Heights, the new version of Sense and Sensibility is expected to be a more traditional take on the story than some recent adaptations. Emma Mackey stars as Elinor Dashwood, and Tom Creed-Miles plays her sister, Marianne, in this adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel.
Practical Magic 2
September 18
This film was released in theaters and directed by Susanne Bier. The cast includes Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest, Joey King, Xolo Maridueña, Maisie Williams, and Lee Pace.
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprise their roles as the witches from the 1998 film Practical Magic in this new sequel. The movie is based on a 2021 novel by Alice Hoffman, who also wrote the original book that inspired the first film.
Resident Evil
September 18
This film was released in theaters and directed by Zach Cregger. It stars Austin Abrams, Paul Walter Hauser, Zach Cherry, and Kali Reis.
While video game movies are improving, they’re still often risky, and past Resident Evil adaptations haven’t been great. However, there’s hope for this new film because it’s directed by Cregger, known for his work on Weapons.
Digger
October 2
This film was released in theaters and directed by Alejandro Iñárritu. The cast includes Tom Cruise, Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Robert John Burke, Burn Gorman, Michael Stuhlbarg, and John Goodman.
After nearly ten years of playing either Ethan Hunt or Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, Tom Cruise is taking on a new role and working with the director of The Revenant, Iñárritu. While details are still under wraps, the film is expected to be a fast-paced, darkly humorous story about a desperate attempt to save the planet. (Sounds a little familiar, doesn’t it?)
Verity
October 2
Release: Theatrical
Director: Michael Showalter
Stars: Dakota Johnson, Anne Hathaway, and Josh Hartnett
Colleen Hoover’s novels are proving popular with moviegoers, and another adaptation is on the way. Following Reminders of Him, which comes out in March starring Maika Monroe, Verity is a psychological thriller starring Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh. Lowen is hired to finish a bestselling book series after its author, Verity (played by Anne Hathaway), suffers an accident. While working on the book, Lowen discovers a hidden manuscript that reveals unsettling truths about Verity.
The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender
October 9
This show is available on Paramount+. It was directed by Lauren Montgomery and stars Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, Román Zaragoza, Steven Yeun, Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Dee Bradley Baker, Freida Pinto, and Ke Huy Quan.
Viewers who enjoyed Avatar: The Last Airbender only saw a quick peek at what the characters looked like as adults in a flashback during The Legend of Korra, the show’s sequel. Now, a new animated movie called The Legend of Aang will fully explore that time period.
The Social Reckoning
October 9
This film was released in theaters and directed by Aaron Sorkin. The cast includes Jeremy Strong, Jeremy Allen White, Mikey Madison, Bill Burr, Wunmi Mosaku, Billy Magnussen, Betty Gilpin, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Anna Lambe, Sierra Capri, Portia Doubleday, and Tehmina Sunny.
Aaron Sorkin, the writer of The Social Network, directed this new film, though without the help of director David Fincher or actor Jesse Eisenberg. It explores how Facebook intentionally created a more harmful online environment. Oscar winner Natalie Portman plays Frances Haugen, a former Facebook engineer who revealed damaging internal documents. Brett Strong portrays Mark Zuckerberg.
Street Fighter
October 16
This movie was released in theaters and directed by Kitao Sakurai. The cast includes Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Roman Reigns, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Orville Peck, Andrew Schulz, Eric André, Vidyut Jammwal, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Jason Momoa.
This movie, the second based on the popular ’90s fighting game series, stands out due to its surprisingly eclectic cast. While Koji and Centineo play Ryu and Ken, the film features Jason Momoa as Blanka, Ronny Reigns as Akuma, 50 Cent as Balrog, and Josh Peck as Vega.
Whalefall
October 16
I just saw this movie in theaters, and it was directed by Brian Duffield. The cast was amazing – Austin Abrams, Josh Brolin, Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy, and Emily Rudd all starred in it. I really enjoyed seeing them all together on the big screen!
Every now and then, a movie idea is so wild it immediately grabs your attention – and Whalefall is one of those. The story follows a diver searching for his father’s remains who gets swallowed alive by a sperm whale. Now, he’s in a desperate race against time to escape the whale’s belly before his air supply runs out.
Remain
October 23
This film was released in theaters and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Phoebe Dynevor, Ashley Walters, and Julie Hagerty.
M. Night Shyamalan teamed up with romance author Nicholas Sparks for this new supernatural love story – an unexpected pairing! Interestingly, Shyamalan almost wrote the screenplay for the movie The Notebook. In Remain, Jake Gyllenhaal plays Tate, an architect from New York who moves to Cape Cod to cope with a difficult loss. His life changes when he meets a woman named Wren (Dynevor).
Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew
November 26
This film was first released in theaters before becoming available on Netflix. It was directed by Greta Gerwig and stars Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, Denise Gough, and Daniel Craig.
Greta Gerwig is following up the massive success of Barbie with a really interesting project: a Chronicles of Narnia adaptation for Netflix. What’s even more exciting is she convinced Netflix to give it a proper theatrical release – it’s hitting cinemas, including IMAX, this Thanksgiving! You’ll have to wait until Christmas if you want to stream it at home. Now, she’s smartly starting with The Magician’s Nephew, which is actually the first story in terms of Narnia’s history, even though it was the sixth book Lewis wrote. Forget lions, witches, and wardrobes for now – we’re going back to the very beginning!
Avengers: Doomsday
December 18
This film was released in theaters and directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t been performing as strongly lately, and a large-scale Avengersstyle movie might be just what fans need to regain their enthusiasm. The upcoming Doomsday project is aiming to do just that, bringing back the directors of Avengers: Endgame and Robert Downey Jr. – this time as Doctor Doom from the Fantastic Four, rather than Iron Man. The movie will also feature a massive cast of characters from previous Marvel films, including those from the X-Men* universe after Disney acquired Fox.
Dune: Part Three
December 18
Dune: Part Two was released in theaters and directed by Denis Villeneuve. The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Robert Pattinson.
While there are many more Dune books beyond Dune: Messiah (the second book and the source material for Villeneuve’s upcoming third film), this will be the last movie adaptation. Those familiar with the books know the story takes a significantly stranger turn from here. The narrative follows Paul Atreides, now emperor, as he solidifies his power, all while facing opposition from secretive groups who may have legitimate reasons to challenge him.
Werwulf
December 25
This film was released in theaters and directed by Robert Eggers. It stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, and Ralph Ineson.
Just as he reimagined vampires with Nosferatu, director Robert Eggers is now tackling the werewolf legend in his new film, Werwulf. Set in 13th-century England, the movie stars Johnny Depp, Willem Dafoe, and Ralph Ineson alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who plays the werewolf. Early photos from the set suggest the cast looks suitably wild and menacing.
The Adventures of Cliff Booth
TBA
This film is a Netflix release directed by David Fincher. The cast includes Brad Pitt, Timothy Olyphant, Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, and JB Tadena.
If you guessed David Fincher would direct a follow-up to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, especially one written by Tarantino himself and released on Netflix, you were right! Brad Pitt returns as Cliff Booth, now navigating the world of 1977 Hollywood as a stuntman, assistant, and problem-solver – a shift from the late 1960s setting of the first film.
Alpha
TBA
This film was released in theaters and directed by Julia Ducournau. The cast includes Tahar Rahim, Golshifteh Farahani, Mélissa Boros, Emma Mackey, Finnegan Oldfield, and Louai El Amrousy.
Julia Ducournau, the director behind the unsettling Raw and Titane, is back, and she hasn’t lost her nerve for shocking imagery. Her latest film centers on a teenage girl in France who gets a tattoo and then starts exhibiting some seriously strange symptoms – it seems she might have contracted a bizarre, blood-borne illness. This isn’t your average sickness, though; it slowly turns people to stone. And adding to the tension, her mother is terrified this will happen to her daughter, haunted by the memory of her son’s struggle with addiction. It’s a creepy premise, and Ducournau really leans into the body horror aspects of it all.
Godzilla Minus Zero
TBA
Release: Theatrical
Director: Takashi Yamazaki
Stars: TBA
Following its historic Oscar win, a sequel to Godzilla Minus One is in the works. Director and writer Takashi Yamazaki will return, also handling the special effects. While details are still unknown, the new film will likely feature Godzilla battling another massive creature.
Sound of Falling
TBA
This film was released in theaters and directed by Mascha Schilinski. The cast includes Hanna Heckt, Lena Urzendowsky, Laeni Geiseler, Susanne Wuest, Luise Heyer, and Lea Drinda.
Germany’s entry for the Academy Awards will be released in the United States in 2026. The movie tells the story of four girls whose lives are connected by a single farm, spanning different eras: pre-World War II, the end of WWII, 1980s East Germany, and the early 2000s. It’s a complex and personal film that will appeal to viewers who appreciate a thoughtful pace.
