Every week’s end can’t come soon enough for me, as I eagerly await a fresh Hallmark movie. Springtime has finally arrived, bringing with it new beginnings and renewal. In just a short while, Hearts Around the Table will be here, and here are four key points to keep in mind.

In contrast to March’s royal-themed movies like “The Royal We” and “Royalish,” the upcoming programming on The Hallmark Channel is switching things up. Rather than focusing on the grandeur of the palace, the following weeks will feature a cozier, more homey atmosphere in their streaming content.

Every Sunday, all four friends consistently gather for dinner in the Heart Around the Table films, which helps tie the entire series together.

At these gatherings, there are two significant characters who aren’t featured in their own movies. Among them, Angie plays the role of a nurturing figurehead, looking after everyone and providing wise counsel whenever possible. She also happens to be caring for young Rory, a foster child who is struggling to emerge from his shell.

Every week, it’s this group of six who gather for dinner, and as you’ll discover in “Jenna’s First Love,” they carry quite a historical significance. Although the plot – and central theme across the four movies – may shift, there is one constant element that will remain consistent throughout.

Romance is a complicated thing

In contrast to ordinary boy-meets-girl love stories, Hearts Around the Table crafts its romantic ties with a touch of complexity.

To put it simply, they share a past, our main characters. Without giving away plot details, Jenna encounters her former boyfriend, Andrew, again, and Josh starts a new relationship with coworker, Ella.

From the overviews, it’s evident that the central focus for our outstanding quartet isn’t primarily romance. Instead, they prioritize their work or restoring their lives to normalcy. Love is simply an added element, a refreshing bonus in the context of workplace relationships, offering renewed optimism to the often daunting office romance.

You’ll see some familiar faces 

If you frequently watch Hallmark movies, you may recognize some of the actors. However, if you prefer soap operas beyond the streaming platform, Mishael Morgan is an actress you should definitely keep an eye on.

I’m thrilled to be a fan, as Morgan takes on the role of Shari in Hearts Around the Table. However, she might be more recognizable to many as Hilary Curtis and Amanda Sinclair from The Young and the Restless. Her exceptional performances in these roles earned her the prestigious Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2022, making her the first Black actress to achieve this milestone.

Morgan expressed on Instagram during filming that certain experiences remain imprinted for a lifetime, and this project was one such instance. He described it as raw, emotional, and overflowing with heartfelt moments. Every moment spent on it filled him with gratitude, and he can’t wait to share it with everyone soon!
