30 Years After Back to the Future 3, Michael J. Fox Has Returned to an Iconic Role. In 2020, He Played Marty McFly and Many People Didn't Notice

As a gamer with a deep-rooted love for ’80s pop culture and a soft spot for underdog stories, I must admit that Michael J. Fox’s unexpected return as Marty McFly in Lil Nas X’s Christmas song teaser was nothing short of a delightful surprise!

Fans bid farewell to the Back to the Future series back in 1990 when the third and concluding movie arrived. It appeared that Michael J. Fox would not reprise his legendary character, Marty McFly, but in a shocking twist before his retirement due to advanced Parkinson’s disease in 2020, he made a surprising appearance as Marty McFly in a cameo, which he revealed was filmed right in his office.

In a surprising twist for some fans, the musician Lil Nas X made an appearance in the teaser trailer for his Christmas song titled “Holiday”. Towards the end of the video, there’s a nod to the movie “Back to the Future” featuring Fox. The clip concludes with a playful warning: “Whatever you do, Nas, don’t go to 2020.”

On The Late Late Show with James Corden, Fox shared the story of how an unexpected partnership was formed. It turned out that his kids were the ones who encouraged him to participate in this unique venture.

My offspring exhibited immense excitement. Being young adults, their enthusiasm knew no bounds. They were adamant, even insisting, “You must do this! If you accomplish nothing else this year, do this.” And so, I obliged. At that time, I had not yet encountered Lil Nas, but during the video shoot in my office, they were exceptional. The video was shot right there in my workplace, and it turned out wonderfully.

It’s clear that the actor appears thrilled about this partnership, as he gets to reprise his cherished character, Marty McFly, adored globally. Moreover, it seems Michael J. Fox fans share the same excitement, delighted by his surprise appearance in the classic role again after a long time.
