2 Chainz Announces Short Film ‘Red Clay,’ Co-Written With Omar Epps (EXCLUSIVE)

2 Chainz is venturing into the world of films by announcing his upcoming short movie titled “Red Clay,” which he co-authored with actor Omar Epps.

The movie, unveiled solely on EbMaster, is set to debut at the Atlanta Film Festival on May 3rd. This film, titled “Glitter Ain’t Gold,” was directed by Christian Nolan Jones who previously won the Best Short Film and Georgia Short Award at the 2023 Atlanta Film Festival for this same production. Interestingly, it is also co-executively produced by Epps.

2 Chainz shares, “I express my tales in music, always wishing to inspire people to conquer any obstacle.” He adds that ‘Red Clay’ is an extension of this theme. Atlanta embodies resilience, and narrating the lives of Nook and Bub, ordinary individuals battling for survival, holds immense significance for him. Collaborating on this project with Omar Epps was nothing short of legendary.

According to 2 Chainz, he communicates his stories via music in a way that encourages people to triumph over adversity. ‘Red Clay’ is an extension of that theme. Atlanta represents resilience, and by bringing the lives of Nook and Bub, two ordinary individuals striving to survive, to life, holds great importance for him. Working on this project with Omar Epps was a truly legendary experience.

Titled “Red Clay,” this movie portrays the life of a teenager named Nook (played by Christopher A’mmanuel), who is grappling with a tough upbringing amidst his mother’s drug struggle. Alongside his companion Bub, he harbors aspirations for a brighter future, yet finds himself trapped in the very world he yearns to flee. The film, taking place in 2003, boasts performances from Rutina Wesley and Jaylan Ragin as well.

Epps explains that the motivation behind writing this movie was to explore harsh realities and present the intricacies of why black and brown communities often accept trauma as a norm. Epps aims to spark discussions that encourage empathy and understanding among people.

2 Chainz has dabbled in acting, featuring in the television series “BMF.” Additionally, he made an appearance in the 2022 movie titled “The Enforcer.
