1990 PC-9801 RPG Crimson III is now playable on Windows 10 & 11 PCs via Project EGG emulator in Japan

D4 Enterprise has recently made available a version of the game “Crimson III” for Windows 10 and 11 PCs through their Project EGG platform. This is the final installment in the trilogy of role-playing games from Xtalsoft (which is actually Crystalsoft), that were launched between 1987 and 1990.

To set the record straight, the game Crimson III first debuted on the PC-8801mkIISR system in May of 1990. Interestingly, though, the Project EGG page points out that this version was actually based on a later release for the PC-9801, which hit stores on October 19, 1990. Over time, Xtalsoft became part of T&E Soft, but in 2019, D4 Enterprise took over the rights to all their game titles.

Regardless of the specific adaptation, the release of Crimson III marks the conclusion of the entire trilogy in Project EGG. Previously, D4 Enterprise introduced the 1987 PC-8801mkIISR version for the first Crimson and the 1989 MSX2 version for Crimson II. The original Crimson can be obtained free of charge, though you’ll need to maneuver through a Japanese language-exclusive website.

Below, you’ll discover the official trailer and snapshots for the freshly imported version of Crimson III. Currently, this retro game is accessible only in its original Japanese language.
