D4 Enterprise is slowly rolling out a Nintendo Switch version of the classic game Super Cooks, originally released on the MSX2 in 1989. Players can expect to find it available for $6.49 on Nintendo eShops around the world, including in the United States.
Super Cooks is heavily inspired by the game Shin Maou Golvellius. Interestingly, the same company, D4 Enterprise, previously released a Switch port of the original 1988 Shin Maou Golvellius MSX2 version in May 2024.
You’ll find the official gameplay trailer, screenshots, and details about the new version of Super Cooks right here.

This story takes place in a time when food wasn’t scarce, a time many now only dream of.
“Let me have your daughter!”
“Absolutely not! She won’t go with someone like you!”I was a cook, and at seventeen, I fell in love with Rina, the daughter of my boss, the Head Chef. When I proposed to her at twenty, it was a simple proposal, but she happily accepted. Unfortunately, her father refused to let us marry. He flew into a rage, throwing a teacup at me and shouting, “Never!” Rina tried to reassure me, saying her father would come around in a few days.
And she was right. Three days later, the Head Chef agreed to the marriage, but with a difficult condition: I had to complete my training in Kitchen Land. Kitchen Land is a bizarre place where the normal laws of physics don’t apply – apples bounce like rabbits and dumplings seem to come to life. Very few who go there to train ever return.
But I’ll go, no matter the risk. I’ll do it for Rina!
Released in 1989 by Compile, this action role-playing game (Action RPG) was originally part of the Disk Station SP2 collection.
The game has a charming and unusual story: you play as Kelesis, who must become a master chef to win the approval of his future in-laws and marry the woman he loves. It combines classic Action RPG features like changing viewpoints (from above and side-scrolling) with epic boss battles.
Interestingly, this game is a parody of Shin Maoh Golvelius, making it instantly appealing to fans of that series. While it has a more lighthearted tone thanks to Compile’s style, it’s still a fun and rewarding Action RPG experience.
