On Mario Day, LEGO unveiled its newest Nintendo showpiece for adult enthusiasts: the Mario Kart collection featuring Mario and his signature red go-kart. This intricate 1,972-piece model will be available for purchase starting May 15th, and you can preorder it right now at the LEGO Store for $170. Similar to previous Nintendo adult sets, Mario Kart: Mario & Standard Kart is initially exclusive to the LEGO Store upon release, but it seems that the exclusivity period may be shorter this time around. Initially, Amazon was accepting preorders with a July 1st launch date; however, we’ll keep you updated if other major retailers like Amazon start carrying the LEGO Mario Kart display set.
The latest addition to the collection will increase the number of Lego Mario Kart sets to six. Previously, there were five sets available, each designed as playsets primarily for children. One of these original kits is the Standard Kart featuring Mario, but it’s a smaller and less detailed model consisting of 174 pieces. Here is a rundown of all six Lego Mario Kart sets:
1. Mario’s Cart (174 pieces)
2. Luigi’s Cart (196 pieces)
3. Peach’s Carriage (208 pieces)
4. Yoshi’s Kart (458 pieces)
5. Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Set (787 pieces)
6. The new display model (TBA)
