Taylor Sheridan just proved that nobody knows anything for certain when it comes to the Dutton family tree, all thanks to a huge reveal in 1923 Season 2 Episode 4. (Warning: spoilers ahead!)
1923 Season 2 had a big task ahead of it. There were multiple parts of the Dutton family legacy that fans wanted background on, from the Train Station to the identity of John Dutton III’s grandparents.
In the thrilling season opener, I found myself learning something quite intriguing – Alex disclosed her pregnancy with Spencer’s baby. With Alex being the sole character expecting a child, it seemed to confirm the speculation that they could be the bearers of our cherished family lineage in the future.
After watching episode 4, it seems like the plot has taken an unexpected turn that could lead to a fresh wave of intrigue within the Dutton family.
Liz is pregnant again in 1923 Season 2 Episode 4
Indeed, as you may have noticed: The latest installment of the Yellowstone prequel series discloses that Liz is expecting another child.
Liz was pregnant in Season 1, but it was later revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage. However, after getting hit by a wave of pain in the new episode while receiving a rabies shot, Cara calls for a doctor, and he confirms that Liz has become pregnant once again.
The Dutton family is experiencing a moment of great happiness after enduring a harsh winter. This joy also brings hope to Liz, who nearly considered leaving the Duttons and returning to her family in Boston.
However, this does throw the Dutton lineage into question once again. Who are the paternal grandparents of John Dutton III (Kevin Costner)? Once again, it could be either Spencer and Alex or Jack and Liz.
While fans will certainly hope to get answers before the end of this season, it’s possible Taylor Sheridan may be laying the groundwork for his upcoming prequel series 1944.
Either way, there are now two pregnant women in the Dutton family. Once again, the fate of the cattle ranching family hangs in the balance of what comes next.
