As a dedicated fan of 1923, I must admit that the second season has stirred up quite a buzz among us viewers. Some moments and plot twists have been labeled as “preposterous” by fellow enthusiasts, but truth be told, I’ve found myself engrossed in it more than Season 1. The unexpected turns of events keep me on my toes!
Some viewers find themselves questioning whether Taylor Sheridan is overreaching in his efforts to elevate Season 2, while others perceive issues stemming from the storylines involving Spencer’s entanglement with the Mafia and Elizabeth’s portrayal as a damsel in distress.
If you check out an old Reddit post from 1923 discussing a recent episode, it’s more likely filled with criticisms instead of positive comments. It may seem as though Season 2 has no merit, but could we be mistaken?
Interestingly enough, it’s quite plausible that our perceptions about the 1923 Season 2 might be off base, and this could be due to comparing it with Season 1 instead.
1923 Season 2 viewership is up 50% from Season 1
Despite Season 1 being considered the standout of 1923, surprisingly, viewership for Season 2 has increased by 56% compared to where Season 1 was at this same stage.
Globally, it’s been reported (by Paramount, via Comic Bases) that the viewership for the Season 2 opener has grown significantly, reaching approximately 17 million viewers – an increase of 41% over the number of viewers who tuned in for the Season 1 premiere during the same timeframe.
On its first airing, the show attracted 5.4 million viewers, marking a significant increase of 146% compared to previous viewership. With four episodes remaining, the audience numbers for Paramount could potentially shift as we approach the Season 2 finale. However, it’s puzzling why some viewers are expressing frustration given that they are watching the show more than ever before.
Fan perspective on ‘The Spencer and Alex effect’: Those who weren’t initially invested in Yellowstone had two years to delve into its chemistry, and now they’re curious about their fate; meanwhile, another fan expresses affection for the series, hoping that characters Alex and Spencer will eventually reach the Dutton Ranch.
A viewer commented, “The series was fantastic overall, but if it takes them 7.5 episodes to return home, it’s disappointing unless there’s a Season 3. Without Spencer and Bride on Yellowstone, the experience isn’t as enjoyable as watching a talented cast collaborate. In comparison, 1883 felt like The Oregon Trail, while 1923 is starting to resemble Jumanji.
1923 Season 3 isn’t happening at the moment, but since it’s a Taylor Sheridan production, anything could potentially change in the future.
