17-year-old ‘TheHullBoy’ runs entire length of UK and raises over $150k for charity

16-year-old Marcus Skeet, more commonly recognized as ‘TheHullBoy’, recently completed an incredible 837-mile journey across the UK from its lowest point to the highest, all while collecting a substantial amount of money for mental health charity Mind along the way.

The final Strava ping landed on May 29, capping a two‑month effort that covered 1,347 km.

The amounts are nearly as astonishing as the distance traveled: Skeet’s GoFundMe total has climbed above £126,000, which is approximately $170,000, since it grew from a few hundred pounds to reaching six figures in about eight weeks.

The top donation so far comes from an anonymous donor, who gave £20,000.

NFL legend J.J. Watt made a £5,000 contribution during the campaign, and he praised Skeet on social media for their efforts.

Or, more casually:

In the middle of his fundraising run, NFL star J.J. Watt dropped a cool £5,000, giving a shout-out to Skeet on social media for their awesome work.

About a year past, you embarked on a transformative voyage for yourself, and unknowingly, you impacted the lives of countless others as well. It takes courage to initiate such a journey, but maintaining that resolve day by day, and consistently raising the bar, is an entirely different challenge altogether.

Even when things seemed tough and you might have chosen to quit, you pressed on instead. Your determination is truly remarkable. You’ve ignited hope in countless people, both close by and far away, my friend. Never question the influence you wield and keep demonstrating that one person can indeed change the world.

About a year ago, I embarked on a transformative journey to better myself, little did I know this adventure would also impact countless others in such profound ways.

It’s easy to take that first step, but it’s quite another to stay dedicated day by day and consistently raise the bar.

And here I am, carrying on that commitment, striving to make a difference and grow even more.

As HullBoy neared the end of the race, he wasn’t running alone. Russ Cook, also known as The Hardest Geezer, who completed a run across Africa last year, joined him towards the finish line and commended HullBoy’s effort, calling it “simply exceptional.

The youngest individual (under 18 years old) who completed a run across the entire length of the UK, has successfully achieved this feat.

A sum of £111,000 was raised for @mindcharity during this challenge.

In total, approximately 1347 kilometers (or 837 miles) were covered in this endeavor. However, the journey wasn’t without its hardships – there was one car accident and the following two months were particularly challenging yet rewarding.

Despite being an emotional wreck tonight, I simply want to express that no matter how difficult things may seem…

Two nights ago, having conquered that challenge, I found myself in an emotional whirlwind. But amidst the turmoil, I feel compelled to share a message: Even when you’re stuck in the deepest, darkest corners, remember, it will get better. Just two years ago, I was engulfed in the blackest period of my life, and today, we’ve made history.
