As a longtime fan of Dick Wolf’s procedurals, I must admit that the constant changes in casts have become as predictable as the plot twists themselves! Every year, it feels like I need a scorecard to keep track of who’s coming and going.
In Dick Wolf’s procedural dramas, consistency lies in their tendency to evolve. Across three “FBI” spin-offs, three “Law & Order” installments, and three shows within the “One Chicago” franchise, each new season often brings about significant changes in the cast members.
This year, that figure appears greater than any other I’ve seen before. Take a look at the following list to find out who won’t be appearing in the next seasons.
Chicago Fire
In Season 13, Firehouse 51 will undergo a significant change. Last season saw the departures of Eamonn Walker, Kara Killmer, Alberto Rosende, and Rome Flynn. However, Dermot Mulroney has come on board as the new chief, accompanied by KaDee Strickland who plays his estranged wife. Additionally, Jake Lockett and Jocelyn Hudon, previously recurring actors, have been promoted to series regulars.
Chicago Med
For Season 10, Dominic Rains, known for his role as Dr. Crockett Marcel, won’t return. His departure hasn’t been explained yet, but it’s clear he won’t be a part of the show anymore. Also, after nine seasons, the showrunners Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider are leaving their positions. They will be succeeded by Allen MacDonald.
New cast members this season include Sarah Ramos and Darren Barnet as regulars.
Chicago P.D.
In the final episode of Season 11, we bid farewell to Hailey Upton played by Tracy Spiridakos. For Season 12, Toya Turner steps into the role of Patrol Officer Kiana Cook. As for Det. Jo Petrovic, portrayed by Bojana Novakovic, it’s yet to be decided if she will make a comeback in the upcoming season.
Law & Order: Organized Crime
Not technically a cast change, the NBC spinoff will move to Peacock for its fifth season.
Law & Order
In the final episode of Season 23, Camryn Manheim’s tenure as Lieutenant Kate Dixon on the long-running series came to an end, as she had been a part of the show since it was revived in 2021. Earlier in the season, Sam Waterston bid farewell after appearing in over 400 episodes.
Maura Tierney will join Season 24 as a new series regular, playing a lieutenant.
FBI
Offstage changes are happening: Rick Eid is no longer the showrunner and Mike Weiss takes over that role instead. Starting in Season 7, Katherine Renee Kane, who plays Special Agent Tiffany Wallace, will be leaving the series. Joining us as a new member of the Behavior Analysis Unit is Listette Olivera.
FBI: International
Following a span of three seasons, Luke Kleintank, portraying Supervisory Special Agent Scott Forrester, chose to leave the series. Previously from “Chicago P.D.,” Jesse Lee Soffer will take on this role, stepping into the position as Supervisory Special Agent Wesley “Wes” Mitchell instead.
