WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for The White Lotus season 3.
In Mike White’s style, The White Lotus Season 3 was filled with numerous unforgettable quotes, quips, and scenes across its eight episodes. As expected, it contained a generous serving of WTF moments, some of which didn’t make the final cut as deleted scenes for The White Lotus Season 3. Some truly standout moments unfolded during the season finale, when characters like Belinda, Rick, the Ratliff family, and others met their ends – with varying degrees of impact.
Before the cast for season 4 of “The White Lotus” is unveiled, it’s a good idea to rewatch season 3 for hints about the characters’ eventual fates. Characters like Chelsea and Victoria from season 3 became beloved across the series, while villainous figures such as Greg/Gary caused chaos. In the end, Rick emerged as the most pitiful character in “The White Lotus” season 3, losing everything he cherished, including his life, in a quest for ill-conceived revenge.
12. “This Is So On Brand For You. To Be A Victim Of Your Own Decisions.”
Chelsea – Episode 1
This initial line from Chelsea to Rick in episode 1 takes on a chilling connotation when we look back at their tragic ending. What initially seemed like a well-meaning woman giving advice to her partner, turns out to be a subtly ominous hint of the turmoil that lay ahead. As it unfolded, Rick’s actions were anything but wise, leading him to make a string of disastrous decisions despite Chelsea’s repeated warnings. These reckless choices not only jeopardized his own life but also put Chelsea in grave danger and eventually led to her demise. To add to the tragedy, he also ended up killing a man he never knew – his own father.
11. “The Locals Called Them LBHs: Losers Back Home.”
Chloe – Episode 1
In the debut of The White Lotus season 3, Chloe playfully labeled Greg/Gary upon their encounter, coining him as an LBH – a term short for ‘Loser Back Home’. This nickname symbolized the numerous middle-aged bald men frequenting The White Lotus Thai Resort. Interestingly, this label aligns with traditional Thai culture, and if not for his actions of stealing Tanya’s wealth, Greg/Gary would have perfectly embodied the stereotype.
10. “Nothing Comes From Nothing, Right?
Rick – Episode 2
Before Rick appeared to lose touch completely, he displayed a certain world-weary insight in The White Lotus season 3, episode 2. When he unwillingly engaged with Amrita for a meditation session, Rick confided that he feels like he’s got nothing meaningful to contribute to the world and lacks purpose.
Rick expresses his state by saying he feels like a vehicle with no gas and no means of refueling. His statement, “Nothing comes from nothing,” contradicts Amrita’s notion about connecting to oneself and the universe, as he views ‘nothing’ as his essence. It would have been ideal if he had maintained this level of wisdom throughout the series.
9. “One Day I Decided To Trick My Mind Into Loving Beans & Now I Do.”
Kate – Episode 2
In the third episode of “The White Lotus” season 3, Kate’s remark, one of the most amusing lines from their so-called “victory tour,” stood out. Following a gossiping session among the trio of Kate, Laurie, and Jaclyn, they engaged in more relaxed conversations during a beach day. Notably, Kate shared an anecdote about how she conditioned herself to enjoy beans by initially forcing herself to eat them until her mind eventually grew fond of them. This could possibly be a similar tactic she employed to develop a liking for other things discussed throughout the series as well.
8. “I Cannot Find Something. I Think You Have It.”
Gaitok – Episode 5
In the final episode of The White Lotus season 3, Gaitok ultimately demonstrates his worth, yet a more skilled and precise shot might have only wounded Rick, preventing him from continuing to walk rather than shooting him in the back. Nevertheless, prior to being hailed as a hero by Sritala and Mook, Gaitok was a feeble and inept security guard who comically failed to scare Tim into surrendering the gun he had stolen. There were numerous alternative methods for dealing with Tim, such as showing him the security camera footage, but instead, Gaitok barely managed to utter a threat.
7. “You Want To Live In Taiwan?”
Victoria – Episode 5
In the third season of “The White Lotus,” there’s a possibility that an entire compilation could be devoted just to Victoria’s remarks, which are particularly amusing due to her accent. One of her most memorable scenes is found in episode 5 when Piper informs her and Tim about her desire to remain in Taiwan after their trip. The line, “You want to live in Taiwan?” stands out as a classic Victoria comment, given her lavish, secluded, and drug-influenced lifestyle that rarely necessitates her awareness of the country she’s currently in. This moment also underscores her limited comprehension of cultures beyond her own.
6. “Maybe What I Really Want Is To Be One Of These Asian Girls.”
Frank – Episode 5
In a standout moment during episode 5 of The White Lotus season 3, featuring Sam Rockwell’s first surprise appearance, Frank’s captivating narration might be the most impactful scene of the entire series. His extraordinary story is so startling that Rick finds himself at a loss for words, much like the viewers at home. During this conversation with Rick, Frank reveals the motivations behind his recent sobriety, only to later relapse as the season unfolds. Among the many jaw-dropping moments in The White Lotus season 3, Frank’s monologue undeniably steals the show.
5. “You Have PayPal? Or Zelle?”
Aleksei – Episode 7
Aleksei gradually grew more significant in “The White Lotus” season 3 following Laurie’s bold decision to confront Jaclyn about her affair with Valentin. Unbeknownst to Laurie, Aleksei was one of the thieves who swiped jewelry from the resort in episode 2, a fact she discovers upon fleeing his apartment when his girlfriend arrives. The candor about his need for money from Aleksei was both amusing and tragic, as he had probably been planning to ask Laurie for this help since their first encounter.
4. “If I’m Not A Success Then I’m Nothing & I Can’t Handle Being Nothing.”
Saxon – Episode 7
In The White Lotus season 3, Saxon frequently expresses outlandish statements, reflecting his adherence to the alpha male mentality. This line encapsulates Saxon well, as he habitually attributes his missteps and gambles to his father, asserting that he invested everything in emulating his father’s path.
In my perspective, it seems Saxon fails to grasp that, despite this line being remarkably self-aware of him, he has essentially reduced himself to insignificance by tying his success so intimately to his father’s, an act far from risky as Chelsea could plainly see.
3. “Can’t I Just Be Rich For 5 F–king Minutes?”
Belinda – Episode 8
In the third season of “The White Lotus,” Belinda was fortunate enough to experience the most favorable resolution among all characters. Now wealthier than ever, her years of strain and effort seem to vanish as she rejoices and reflects on this life-changing moment with her son Zion. For a while, Belinda requests some quiet time to fully absorb the situation before needing to decide about launching a spa or any other endeavor. Here’s hoping that we get to see Belinda gracing the screens again as a valued guest in “The White Lotus” season 4.
2. “I’m, You Know, A Pleaser… In A Family Full Of Narcissists.”
Lochlan – Episode 8
Lochlan and Saxon ultimately discuss the earlier-season event and Lochlan believes he has a reason for it. He describes himself as the only one in his family who always puts others first, which is accurate but quite alarming. Saxon suggests they should forget about the conversation entirely, which seems wise. Lochlan departs with much to ponder, particularly about whom and what he chooses to please.
1. “I’m Just Happy To Be At The Table.”
Laurie – Episode 8
At the finale of “The White Lotus”, Laurie delivers a deeply touching speech that manages to heal the rift between her, Jaclyn, and Kate that had built up over the course of the season. Her sincerity allows them to reconnect on a profound spiritual level, bringing them closer than they’ve ever been. The writing for this speech was particularly poignant and well-considered. In the end, Laurie admits her mistakes, concluding her story in “The White Lotus” with a positive resolution.
