Leslie’s coworker, Tom Haverford, is more interested in personal profit than public service, and often hinders her progress. To make matters worse, her boss, Ron Swanson, strongly dislikes government – despite working for it himself.

When it first aired on NBC with three other comedies, Parks and Recreation was considered the least likely to succeed. It constantly faced the possibility of being canceled, unlike Community, which ultimately didn’t make it. Fortunately, Parks and Recreation lasted for seven seasons, concluding in 2015. Its two-part series finale is widely praised as one of the most well-done and fulfilling finales in television history.

Parks and Recreation, however, gave meaningful development to every member of the Pawnee Parks Department, including Ann Perkins. Even Jerry Gergich – who was often the target of jokes – became a complex and relatable character, despite the constant teasing.
