To make The Gorge more compelling, the filmmakers could have explored a past relationship between Levi and Drasa. Imagine them as ex-lovers, still hurting from a bad breakup, who reconnect amidst the strange events of the story. This approach has proven successful before, most notably in the critically acclaimed film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
The film follows a man who chooses to erase all memories of his ex-girlfriend (Kate Winslet) after learning she’s done the same to him. But as he revisits their past together during the procedure, he starts to question his choice and realize how much those memories actually mean.
