A major movie from 2025 will be back in cinemas this Halloween season. Warner Bros. Discovery had a very successful year, with several of their films performing exceptionally well in theaters. Some of the potential top movies of 2025 include the video game adaptation A Minecraft Movie and the horror films Five Nights at Freddy’s and Weapons. Though the company is also doing well with streaming and on-demand rentals, one of these films will get a second chance on the big screen.
Ryan Coogler’s film Sinners, featuring Michael B. Jordan, will be back in select IMAX theaters from October 30th to November 5th for a special Halloween showing. The movie was a huge success, earning $279 million domestically and $367 million worldwide. This is a great opportunity for those who missed it to see Sinners on the big screen, and for fans to experience it again. To celebrate, Spirit Halloween is also offering official costumes, allowing trick-or-treaters to dress up as Michael B. Jordan’s characters, Smoke and Stack, and other figures from the film.
Sinners Was a Success With Critics and Audiences
The vampire film Sinners is a rare critical and popular success. It boasts remarkably similar scores on Rotten Tomatoes: critics give it a 97% rating (based on 412 reviews), and audiences agree with a 96% score from over 25,000 ratings.
Before becoming available to rent or buy digitally on June 3rd, Sinners was the highest-earning original film of the 2020s. According to Box Office Report, it currently ranks at Number 27, behind huge movie franchises like Spider-Man, Avatar, and Batman.
Warner Bros. Pictures released the film Sinners, and it became available on their streaming service, HBO Max, around the July 4th holiday. It quickly climbed to the number two spot on HBO Max, behind A Minecraft Movie.
Interestingly, Sinners is the first film released on a streaming service to include a version specifically designed for Deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences alongside its regular cinema release. Warner Bros. Discovery explained that this version uses a particular form of American Sign Language (ASL) – a unique dialect with its own grammar, rhythm, and cultural expressions.
Warner Bros. Discovery acknowledges that providing accessibility features for streaming isn’t a simple, universal solution. According to Naomi Waibel, SVP of Global Product Management at Max, their aim is to make content available to everyone in a way that respects both the story and the communities it represents. An example of this is offering Black American Sign Language for the series Sinners, which enhances the viewing experience with culturally relevant accessibility.
In the film, Michael B. Jordan plays both Smoke and Stack, twin brothers who come home to Mississippi in 1932 only to find their town is haunted by vampires.
Sinners is now streaming on HBO Max.
