IO Interactive’s new James Bond game, 007 First Light, is expected to be a longer experience than many Hitman games, offering a substantial campaign length that should please players.
So, I’ve been checking out 007 First Light, and it’s a prequel – basically showing how James Bond became, well, James Bond. You get to see his recruitment, all his spy training, and his very first mission. Being a Bond game, expect tons of shooting, fast-paced driving, and, of course, trying to win people over in glamorous places. Honestly, though, there are a lot of cutscenes, and the actor playing young Bond, Patrick Gibson, is in them a lot. It’s making me wonder how much I’ll actually be playing versus just watching the story unfold.
Youtuber JorRaptor (reporting via Insider Gaming) has revealed that the upcoming game, 007 First Light, will feature a main campaign lasting approximately 20 hours. The game also offers significant replay value, as players can adjust the difficulty of individual missions to increase the challenge.
007 First Light Is Longer Than Fans Thought

If the reported playtime for 007 First Light is correct, it will be a longer game than most of IO Interactive’s Hitman titles, which typically take around ten hours to complete. The main exception is Hitman: World of Assassination, which became a constantly updated game with new missions and even collaborations, like the addition of Bruce Lee, released as downloadable content.
The game 007 First Light might receive additional content after it’s released, but Amazon’s ownership of the James Bond license could make that tricky. Whether or not we see more content really depends on how well the game sells initially – if it’s popular, downloadable content is likely to follow.

How much you’ll want to play it again is a bigger concern than how long it takes to finish, especially since it appeals more to dedicated stealth fans than those who play casually. Hitman games are known for players starting carefully, then abandoning stealth after one mistake and going on a rampage. Most players don’t want extremely challenging levels that heavily punish errors, no matter what rewards are available.
The gameplay footage of 007 First Light looks fantastic, and a 20-hour play time is a good length for a stealth action game. If the game keeps players engaged for that long, it could be one of the most successful Bond titles ever.
