007 First Light May Have Hitman-Like Live-Service Missions

IO Interactive is temporarily pausing Agent 47 projects to concentrate on the forthcoming James Bond game called 007 First Light. Interestingly, the upcoming Bond game might borrow elements from Hitman: World of Assassination’s live-service strategy by offering additional missions after its initial release.

During an in-depth conversation with The Game Business, IO Interactive’s CEO, Hakan Abrak, subtly suggested that they might continue to offer assistance to Bond (character) in the future.

In his words, Abrak shared that we’ve amassed a great deal of expertise from the World of Assassination series and in crafting extended single-player experiences through offering engaging free content. The primary goal for 007 First Light is to deliver an exceptional, memorable gaming experience. While keeping details under wraps, it’s likely that elements learned from the World of Assassination will be incorporated into Bond’s storyline.

Abrak pointed out that First Light will offer enhanced stealth, intense action, and smooth switching between ranged assaults and hand-to-hand combat. Moreover, he mentioned that Bond will uphold the customary element of driving luxurious vehicles in his character.

Abrak added, “This presents us with even more exciting opportunities to explore,” referring to the live challenges in Hitman. Furthermore, he mentioned that in the Bond series, not only can we engage in activities similar to those found in Hitman, but also additional action-packed and dynamic challenges.

1. The latest Hitman elusive target mission could serve as an excellent blueprint for any live-service content in 007 First Light.

2. Mads Mikkelsen once again played LeChiffre, a character he portrayed in the initial Daniel Craig James Bond film, Casino Royale. If First Light decides to reference some iconic villains from earlier Bond movies, it opens up possibilities to revisit beloved characters.

007 First Light is a standalone story that doesn’t link to any previous Bond portrayals, instead focusing on the character’s origins. The game will be published by IO Interactive for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC in the year 2026.
