In the midst of crypto’s melancholic bearish waltz, certain digital curiosities—meme coins, they call them—are finding the spotlight less blinding. 🕯️

According to the all-seeing blockchain analytics oracle, Dune, the offspring of Pump.fun, those Solana-based jesters of the token world, have tumbled to their September 2024 nadir. As I pen this, the grand total of these japes on the blockchain has dipped below a meager 12,000 tokens. 📉

Since its grand entrance in January 2024, Pump.fun has been the stage for the uninitiated to conjure meme coins with nary a thought for programming sorcery or blockchain alchemy. 🧙‍♂️

Alas, Dune tells us that in a mere year, Pump.fun has given birth to a plethora of meme tokens, a number so vast it would make the stars envious. Yet, its zenith was but a fleeting moment on January 23rd, when over 71,700 tokens were birthed in a single day. A day of much mirth, no doubt. 🎉

Among its offspring was the much-touted TRUMP, a meme token that, like its namesake, made quite the spectacle before fading into obscurity. An earlier tale revealed its sad descent from the heights of meme coin grandeur to a mere shadow of its former self, a plunge so steep it would make a mountain weep. 🤡

And then, as if a cosmic joke, the Solana-based LIBRA, a token with ties to the Argentine president Javier Milei, crashed in February, sending Pump.fun into a spiral of reduced fees, users, and, naturally, fewer tokens. 🌀

Can Pump.fun reclaim its former glory? Crypto soothsayers predict that only meme coin projects with actual utility—NFTs, dApps, AI tools, oh my!—will survive this crypto winter. 🌬️
