In a tweet that made more waves than a gold bar in a bathtub, the golden boy of economics admitted, through gritted teeth, that a Bitcoin reserve might just make a smidge of sense. But XRP? Pfft, no way, José! 🚫
Now, our dear leader, President Trump, took to Truth Social (because where else?) to announce his grand plan for a Crypto Strategic Reserve. 🤑
The Great Crypto Reserve Debacle
Imagine everyone’s surprise when the big man mentioned not just Bitcoin, but also ETH, XRP, SOL, and ADA. The market went wild! Bitcoin did a little dance, XRP shot up like a rocket, and the others tagged along for the ride. 🚀
But ol’ Schiff wasn’t having any of it. He squinted at the idea of XRP being part of the national treasure chest. “Bitcoin is digital gold,” he grumbled, “but XRP? What’s that, digital sand?” 🌊
“I get the rationale for a Bitcoin reserve. I don’t agree with it, but I get it. We have a gold reserve. Bitcoin is digital gold, which is better than analog gold. So let’s create a Bitcoin reserve too. But what’s the rationale for an XRP reserve? Why the hell would we need that?” he said on X.
The Community Strikes Back
The crypto gang wasn’t going to take this sitting down. They leaped to XRP’s defense, saying it’s the digital equivalent of a super-efficient, global postman. Schiff just rolled his eyes. 🙄
Jason Higgins, a tech whiz and crypto cowboy, had a few choice words for Mr. Schiff:
“Peter Schiff is being intellectually dishonest here. He gets Bitcoin reserves because it’s “digital gold,” but conveniently ignores that XRP is designed for efficient global payments something gold and Bitcoin both fail at. A reserve of XRP makes sense for institutions facilitating instant, low-cost cross border settlements. Dismissing it without engaging in its use case is lazy.”
And so, the debate rages on. Schiff sticks to his golden guns, while the crypto crowd waves their digital flags. 🏳️🌈
In another rant, Schiff called Trump’s announcement a “bailout” for the wobbly crypto market, suggesting Bitcoin was about to take a dive before the president’s unexpected lifeline. 🏊♂️
