Disney is officially the top studio of 2025, a result that was widely expected. They were the first studio to reach $5 billion at the box office this year, and they’ve now secured another victory.
As a huge movie fan, I’ve been following the drama with Netflix and Paramount battling it out over Warner Bros., but honestly, Disney seems to be smartly sitting this one out and just focusing on what they do best. And it’s clearly working! I just read that their latest film has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the box office. That makes Disney the studio with the most billion-dollar movies right now, with two hits under their belt – this one and the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake. Pretty impressive, if you ask me!
Just like the first Zootopia movie, the sequel has now earned over a billion dollars worldwide. It reached this milestone faster than any other PG-rated film, doing so in just 17 days. While it’s made $232.7 million domestically, international audiences have contributed a huge $753.4 million, and the film is expected to hit $1 billion in total this Friday.
