Zootopia 2 Box Office Is Tracking Higher Than Ever

Early estimates for the box office show that Zootopia 2 is expected to outperform several films released during previous Thanksgiving weekends. The sequel, directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, hit theaters on November 26, 2025, and features a star-studded voice cast including Ginnifer Goodwin, Idris Elba, Jason Bateman, and Shakira, among others.

Zootopia 2 could cross $150 million in first five days

Early estimates suggest Zootopia 2 could earn between $135 and $150 million at the box office over the Thanksgiving holiday. Meanwhile, the recently released Wicked: For Good is projected to make around $80 million during the three-day weekend.

A new report from Variety suggests that Zootopia 2 is expected to earn more in its first five days than Wicked did during the same period last year. Other films that performed exceptionally well during Thanksgiving week include The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which earned $109 million in five days, and Frozen II, which brought in approximately $125 million.

Over the holiday, Moana 2 was the biggest box office hit, bringing in $225 million in just five days. The report suggests that Zootopia 2 may not be able to surpass that impressive number.

The new animated movie is predicted to perform better than the first one, both in the US and worldwide. Experts believe it could earn as much as $145 million internationally and $125 million domestically from around 4,000 theaters, giving it a total opening weekend of $270 million, according to Deadline.

The 2016 animated film Zootopia was a huge financial success, earning over a billion dollars worldwide. It made about $682 million internationally and $341 million in the United States and Canada, playing in 3,827 theaters. The film opened with a very strong $75 million weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.
