Zendaya has quickly become a prominent and gifted actress in Hollywood. With several exciting projects planned through 2026, she’s poised to become one of the industry’s highest-grossing stars. Since starting on the Disney Channel in 2010, she’s consistently appeared in both blockbuster franchises and critically acclaimed films, solidifying her status as a leading actress. She’s already been a part of some of the decade’s biggest hits, and she’s expected to continue that success.
2026 promises to be a standout year for Zendaya, with a unique combination of highly anticipated films all likely to be major box office hits. She’s set to return as MJ in the new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and as Chani in Dune: Part Three. Adding to this, she’ll take on the role of the Greek goddess Athena in Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey.
These three movies are generating a lot of excitement and are expected to be huge hits worldwide. With Zendaya starring in all of them, she could potentially break box office records that were once considered impossible.
Zendaya Is Chasing Brie Larson’s Single-Year Box Office Record From 2019

Zendaya has three potential blockbuster movies coming out in 2026, and each one could earn over a billion dollars. If they do, she could come close to the record for highest single-year box office total by an actress, currently held by Brie Larson. In 2019, Larson starred in the massive hits Captain Marvel ($1.131 billion) and Avengers: Endgame ($2.799 billion), as well as the film Just Mercy ($50 million), bringing her total earnings for the year to around $3.98 billion.
Zendaya could potentially earn close to or even more than $1.9 billion, depending on how well the movie performs at the box office. Spider-Man films are usually very successful, and the previous Marvel installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, made an incredible $1.9 billion. While it might be difficult for the new film, Brand New Day, to beat that record, with its release date on July 31st facing little competition, earning $1.5 billion seems achievable.
To keep the Dune franchise growing, Dune: Part Three needs to earn even more than the previous films, aiming for over $1 billion at the box office. The first Dune made $411 million worldwide, and Dune: Part Two improved that with $715 million. Reaching $1 billion is likely, but Dune: Part Three will be competing directly with the new Avengers: Doomsday movie during the busy holiday season. While a combined audience from both fanbases is possible, the competition could end up hurting both films’ earnings.
From a financial perspective, The Odyssey is the most unpredictable of these upcoming films – it’s hard to guess how much money it could potentially make. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, boosted by Nolan’s reputation, great reviews, and awards talk, almost reached $1 billion in 2023. The Odyssey has all those same advantages, but with even more potential: it promises more action, has a massive budget, features a well-known cast, and benefits from being released after the success of Oppenheimer.
As a huge movie fan, I’m already predicting these three films will easily bring in at least $3.5 billion, and could even surpass $4 billion! It’s going to be exciting to watch Zendaya try to beat Brie Larson’s record of $3.98 billion in a year. I think it all might come down to how well her new movie, The Drama – a black comedy coming out in April – performs at the box office. It’s going to be a close race!
Zendaya’s 2026 Is Chasing Another MCU Star for the Biggest Single Year Ever

Zendaya is on track to have a very successful year, potentially rivaling Brie Larson’s record for actresses. However, it would be extremely difficult for anyone to surpass the most prolific year ever by an actor. Samuel L. Jackson holds that record, appearing in six projects in a single year: three Marvel films (including Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame), the thriller Glass, a new version of Shaft, and even a voice role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Samuel L. Jackson earned over $5.3 billion at the box office in 2019. Even if you remove Rise of Skywalker (where he had a small role as a Force ghost), his films still grossed over $4.2 billion – the highest single-year total of any actor. While it’s unlikely Zendaya will surpass that in 2026, Brie Larson’s impressive $5.3 billion from 2019 is a realistic target to beat.
